Alex McPherson scraped a boatload of technical data from 20,000 websites, and will show what he learned about gathering data in a meaningful, unbiased way, normalizing ugly, poor quality data, and presenting actionable information to readers who may or may not be technical.
Gary McClelland will make a case for the important role of Small Data in this world of Big Data. Interactive visualizations implemented with d3.js enhance understanding the statistical analysis of Small Data. Lots of examples will be presented along with a discussion of the pros and cons of d3.
