Welcome to Analyze Boulder 43!

Analyze Boulder is a community of data geeks who live, work, and play in Boulder, Colorado.

The first Wednesday of every month, our members give fast, accessible, high-energy TED-style talks once a month on any data topic. Contact us (http://speakers.analyzeboulder.com/) if you want to present at a future event.

We start with social time / beer from 6-6:20pm, followed by the live event, and then we stick around and chat over beers afterwards. You can also join the event via our live stream (see below).

Please bring cash to contribute for beer.

Here's our December agenda:

Kai Larsen shows how evaluation of the similarity of short texts represents a unique opportunity and challenge in data science. His presentation will outline some classes of techniques and discuss our experiences with them in the context of the Human Behavior Project (www.theorizeit.org).

Max Joseph explains that NBA freethrow statistics and media coverage is reliably terrible because people don't understand the concept of statistical shrinkage, a concept which has deep roots in Bayesian inference, and appeals to common sense.

Live Stream Information:

We have social time from 6:00-6:20, and the live streaming event will start at 6:20PM sharp.
