What we’re about
Meetup group for Android developers in Budapest. Join our events, learn more about Android development from great talks, and meet other developers in the local community.
Got a topic to talk about? We're happy to have you! Please note that the context (pun intended) should be relevant for Android developers (but doesn’t have to be strictly about development). Native is preferred over cross-platform, but if you have a good topic about the latter, do not hesitate to submit!
We would like to ask presenters to have the talks in English to be able to reach as many people as possible. Please prepare your presentation to last 30 minutes.
But what's important is that if you have an idea for a talk, but you feel afraid of public speaking, don't be! We would like to ask the members of the community to be inclusive and non-judgemental. When in doubt, refer to our Code of Conduct!

See all- Android Budapest September 2024Nevis Security, Budapest
Now that we’ve made it through the summer heat waves, it’s time to gather and talk about Android development again! What better way to relax after our vacations? 😎
We’ll have two new talks for you, covering serialization best practices in the Kotlin world and UI testing with Jetpack Compose. Whether you are an expert Android dev or just starting to get into programming, you will find some nuggets of inspiration or knowledge for sure. Before, between and after the talks you will also have plenty of time to catch-up with fellow developers over 🍽️ and 🥛.
📜 Schedule:
18:00 - 18:30: Arriving and socializing
18:30 - 19:00: First talk
19:00 - 19:20: Break
19:20 - 19:50: Second talk
19:50 - : More socializing!—
🔷 Kotlinx serialization - Péter Nagy
We know Gson, Jackson, and other serialization libraries, but sometimes they have some problem with how they handle the null value. Of course most of them use reflection and we can be surprised when a non-null field is null. What can we do? Instead of creating a workaround we can use a serialization lib which is part of the Kotlin ecosystem. It does not use reflection (just generated code) and we can use default values.
🔷 Screenshot testing Compose and Views - Challenges and Takeaways - Tamás Balogh
In the maze of UI frameworks and shifting development approaches, ensuring proper user experience is a hot topic. Adopting Jetpack Compose while still maintaining screens using the legacy View system is part of everyday life for many teams. As well as facing the limitations of unit and instrumentation tests beyond the verification of functional requirements.
