What we're about

Annapolis Makerspace is a shared workshop run by a group of people interested in robotics, computers, woodworking, art, and anything else STEM related. Members can use the space 24/7 to work on projects, socialize with other members, and learn.

Check out our website @ http://www.makeannapolis.org for more info. We have a weekly orientation class if you would like to be a paid member. We have several events each month that do not require membership, so feel free to join to meetup group to see when those events are posted.

Events at our space are open to all ages; however, anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied and supervised by an adult.

We are located at:
2014 Renard Court, Unit C

Quarterly Shop Cleanup

Needs a location

Time to get organized and do some cleaning around the shop. We'll be dusting, sweeping, organizing tools, working on general space cleanup.

EDIT: Going to see about doing a big tool sale on July 16th so moving the cleanup day to that date as well. Some people can help clean while some set up tools for sale. Tool sale will be posted as a separate event when we have all the details hammered ou.

Let's make carved wood signs with the CNC Router

Needs a location

Join us for a beginner-friendly workshop making precision-carved wood signs on the Makerspace's Shapeoko/Makita CNC Router.

Prior experience with computers, Cricut Design Space, Ink Scape, 3D modeling or vector graphic design software is recommended but not required.

We will demonstrate the steps of creating text and importing images, putting them together into a basic carve-able design, assigning tool paths and creating the code that instructs the CNC router to carve your design into the wood.

Once ready, your design will be cut into its finished product by an authorized Makerspace CNC user. Participants will each go home with their own carved sign in a beautiful live-edge wood, ready for finishing, at the end of the class.

Makerspace PCs will be available to all participants who want direct hands-on design experience. If you have a laptop, you are encouraged to bring it with you to the class.

NOTE: This course is intended as an introduction to vector graphic design and wood carving with the CNC Router. Due to safety considerations, the CNC carving portion of the class will be either supervised (for Annapolis Makerspace members) or limited to demonstration only (for non-members) while participants' projects are cut. This course is not a substitute for the Makerspace's CNC Orientation and Safety course, which is required prior to members scheduling independent time to use the CNC Router.

CLASS FEE (includes all materials):
$20 for current Annapolis Makerspace Members
$40 for non-members

Class payment instructions will be messaged to participants about a week prior to the class.
