What we’re about
Annapolis Makerspace is a shared workshop run by a group of people interested in robotics, computers, woodworking, art, and anything else STEM related. Members can use the space 24/7 to work on projects, socialize with other members, and learn.
Check out our website @ www.makeannapolis.org for more info. We have a bi-weekly orientation class if you would like to be a paid member. We frequently offer events that do not require a subscription membership, so feel free to join to meetup group to see when those events are posted.
For safety reasons, some events have age restrictions. When allowed, participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied and supervised by an adult. Please check the specific event details for more information.

Join us for a beginner-friendly, hands-on workshop to learn how to use the Boss LS-3655 Laser Cutter! Laser cutters have long been used in industry and are becoming increasingly popular among consumers for next-level crafting such as making home decor, custom signs for parties, weddings and business; 3D puzzles, engraved coasters, cutting boards, fast and precise cutting of fabric patterns and applique and more! Our laser cutter features a large 55.1 X 35.4 IN cutting area and 100 Watts of power, suitable for use on projects that are too large for a Glowforge or other consumer-grade laser.
Participants will learn how to create a basic vector design and configure laser settings in LightBurn software to etch and cut on a variety of materials. Then, that design will be used in a hands-on exercise with each participant preparing their material and operating the Laser to make their designs.
There are PCs available at the shop available for use with LightBurn software options for creating designs. If you plan to use your own laptop for creating designs, please bring it with you to class and install a trial version of LightBurn prior to class from THIS LINK. After the class, if you decide to keep LightBurn, subscribing members can access our discounted Makerspace license for only $30.
NOTE: This safety class is required for any makerspace members prior to independently using the Laser cutter at the shop.
Minimum age = 18
CLASS FEE (includes all materials):
- FREE for subscribing members of Annapolis Makerspace.
- $40 for non-members
