Upcoming August Meetups

Hi Meteorites!

Now that the dog days of summer are receding, we're getting back to normal meetups. If you've attended in the past, we hope you'll join us again. And if you haven't yet made the trip to one of the meetups, please do. We'd love to meet you. It doesn't matter how much you know about Meteor. We welcome members at all levels, and try to have something for newcomers, intermediates, and experts alike. It's a terrific way to meet and learn from other Meteor/JavaScript community members.

It's been challenging securing locations to hold our gatherings these past few months. We have been able to get facilities this month for DevShop and an alternative location for weekend Office Hours.

So this Saturday, you can attend Office Hours at Gregory's Coffee. Member Jan Dvorak will host. The group meets at the back of the coffee shop. It runs for over 4 hours where attendees can work on code; collaborate with others; ask questions about Meteor and JavaScript; or do tutorials.

If you're looking for Jan when you get there, he's this guy:

(He may not be dressed exactly this way.)

Meteor NY DevShop will be hosted at MongoDB on Tuesday, August 30, refreshments and videography will be provide by the Meteor Development Group.

Since we aren't able to host Hack Night this month, we've extended the time for DevShop. Anders Ramsay will run the unconference-style event before we start our featured presentations.

We plan to present a recap of Meteor Camp NYC, hopefully with some of the video taken there. Jan Dvorak will do a featured presentation on the Meteor Social Packages. Kathryn Chaung is working on a D3 talk and Mirza Joldic has offered to demonstrate using Apollo with different data sources. We have a couple of other lightning talks in the works, so it should be pretty full, fun and informative night.

We'll keep time for announcements before we break, so if you're looking for collaborators, contractors or employees; if you want to share you new project or product; if you're trying to get help learning Meteor; or if you're looking for employment or a gig, you can do so at the end of the talks.

We'll finish off the night at Beer Authority. All are welcome to continue the evening there; drinking isn't required.

We hope to see you soon!

Alim, Adrian, Anders, Dakoda & Mirza
