About us
Welcome to The Architecting for Innovation Meet-up group.
This group was formed initially as an offshoot from the Australasian Architecture Network Group on Linkedin www.linkedin.com/groups/1822816 Then it was a group of Enterprise and Solution Architects meeting in the pub for a few beers and a chat.
Since then, we have run several formal meet-ups in Sydney and Melbourne. The subjects have changed and morphed but always with an Architecture undertone with an eye on innovation.
Meet-up subjects have included:-
- Who needs Data Architecture anyway?
- Architecting intelligent enterprises
- Business Capability Modelling - Creating a performance framework Lunch and learn
- A journey into Enterprise Architecture
- Architecting for Governance at Scale
- How architectures fail, and what to do about it
- Databricks Delta Lake Deep Dive & Roadmap
- Digital Transformation in Banking
- Customer 360
- EA for Digital - Digital for EA
- CQRS and event sourcing
- The Future of Data in a Hybrid/Multi-Cloud Environment
- Practical mechanisms to align Business Architecture with Technology Architecture
- Making sense of Data-Driven Architecture
- Modern Data Pipelines with Kafka and MongoDB

We work hard to provide value to our community through access to pertinent market intelligence and networking platforms, creating and hosting industry thought leadership events; and presenting interesting jobs for exciting companies.
We cover a range of subjects in the Technology and Digital landscape with the focus on innovation and disruption.
If you are keen on joining a panel for any of the upcoming meet-ups, let me know.

Designing Defensible Architecture for Critical Infrastructure
·OnlineOnline## Designing Defensible Architecture for Critical Infrastructure
Speaker: Daniel Castillo — CEO & Founder, Skadi Solutions
*Thu, 30 April • 12:30 PM • Online • 1‑hour sessionCritical infrastructure environments face a unique challenge: the architecture itself often determines whether a cyber incident is contained or becomes operationally disruptive.
In this session, Daniel Castillo introduces defensible architecture as a practical design mindset for OT and cyber‑physical systems. He’ll explore how segmentation, connectivity, and operational patterns shape resilience — and how architects can make more deliberate design choices that materially reduce impact and support continuity.
Through real‑world anti‑patterns and a practical implementation example, Daniel will show how solution architects can bridge governance and engineering to deliver controls that actually work in the field — designed for uptime, safety, and real operational constraints.***
### About the Speaker
Daniel Castillo is a mechatronics engineer turned cybersecurity specialist and the Founder of Skadi Solutions, delivering cybersecurity services to critical infrastructure and building automation environments.
His career spans robotics, systems engineering, and cybersecurity across both enterprise IT and operational technology. Daniel previously served in the Australian Signals Directorate’s Critical Infrastructure Uplift Program (CI‑UP), supporting national resilience uplift initiatives. He has since led advisory, architecture, and engineering engagements that translate governance into deployable, operationally grounded controls.
Daniel is known for bridging security, engineering, and operations teams to deliver practical, measurable uplift in resilience and performance.***
