Volunteer at the 20th Anniversary 9-11 Memorial 5K Race in Crystal City
Details
Volunteer with us at the 20th Anniversary 9-11 5K Memorial Race in Crystal City on Saturday, September 11. This year's in-person race is organized by the Arlington Police, Fire, Sheriff, & Emergency Communications Center (ECC) departments. The Jaycees will provide volunteers for the event to be used as needed before, during, and after the race. All proceeds from the race are donated to charities that help people directly affected by the attacks against America on September 11, 2001. The Arlington Jaycees have been providing volunteers for this annual event since 2003.
The race begins and ends at the DoubleTree Hotel in Crystal City. Volunteers should plan to be at the hotel no later than 3:30pm to help with the check-in process; the race begins at 6pm. Other volunteer duties will be assigned onsite as needed and may include set up and stocking of the food stations and cleanup afterwards. Cleanup should be completed by 8pm. Volunteers may receive food and a t-shirt. All volunteers should plan to wear a mask.
Please RSVP no later than Monday, September 6 (Labor Day) if you plan to join us, and include your t-shirt size. This event is open to anyone who likes to volunteer and give back to the Arlington Community.
The DoubleTree Hotel is easy walking distance from the Pentagon City metro, and limited parking is available in the parking lots across from the Pentagon City mall on Army Navy Drive (note, there is NO parking available at the hotel during the event). Walk up Army Navy Drive to the hotel’s main entrance; we will meet at 3:30pm inside the main lobby (look for the red balloons). Note that this event will take place rain or shine, and many volunteer activities are outdoors, so please dress appropriately for the weather that day.
