Come to an International Wine, Food & Film Evening. Please bring either an international wine or food dish we can share. Once you decide what you will bring to the gathering (Wine or Food), please bring/prepare a short statement on the region where your wine or food is from. You might teach us about the types of grapes and environment needed for this type of wine, or maybe why this food is symbolic of the region, or possibly just some brief cultural information about that part of the world. You choose. Then take 4-5 minutes to teach the other Wanderlust Souls at the gathering! We will all take turns at providing a bit of info. This is an opportunity to learn a little something about other parts of the world.
We will begin at 4:00 pm on Saturday May 11th, share food & wine & learning, then we will begin film at approximately 5:30. Afterwards we’ll have an opportunity to talk about the film.
We will be watching:
India – 2005, PG-13, 117 minutes
After losing her husband to illness, 8-year-old Chuyia (Sarala) is forced to live out the rest of her days in a temple for Hindu widows, communing with 14 other women and a cruel headmistress who agrees to take her in. But it's through the trials of another widow, a beautiful prostitute named Kalyani (Lisa Ray) who's being courted by a man from a higher caste (John Abraham), that Chuyia learns the true restrictions of widowhood.
At the time you RSVP please post a comment as to what you will be bringing: Wine or Food. At this time you don’t need to be specific as to what wine or food, but the more specific you are the less likely that others will bring the same as you. And that way we will know ahead of time whether we’ll have enough wine and food for the gathering.
Allergy sufferers! Please note that there are two long-haired cats on the premises. Plan accordingly!
