This meetup is for anyone interested in working on art projects in a lovely outdoor setting. Work individually, or join with others on creative projects. Please bring your easel and set up in the garden, or share the large art table.

The setting is Hayes Valley Art Works, at the corner of Octavia Boulevard and Oak (enter on Lily Street). There is a lovely garden with trees and flowers. Bring your own easel and materials, or share with others. A work table and some chairs are provided.

All levels welcome, from beginner to professional artists.

Art in the Garden! Bring your own or share in projects

Our Meetups have moved to ZOOM! At Hayes Valley Art Works we are focused on building community through art. In this time of crisis, while we must close our physical space due to the Public Health order, we are still here for virtual art making. On Saturdays we host "Art in the Garden" as a Zoom workspace for artists of all ages and levels. Bring your easel, paints, pencils, or other projects and join us as we share the lovely outdoor setting to work on artworks. Work on individual projects, or join in group art and craft projects. We will meet every Saturday from 11-1 (when we go back outside, it is 12-3 in the garden). Look forward to meeting you! Donations of art materials or a small cash donation to support the space are welcome but not required.

Dear Meetup Members and Friends, We at Hayes Valley Art Works are focused on building community through art. In this time of crisis, while we must close our physical space due to the Public Health order, we are still here for virtual art making. For the next few weeks, through April 7 or possibly longer, due to the Public Health order, we will be hosting our Meetups virtually, using Google Hangouts and Zoom. As we are still experimenting with which works best for our particular group, you may see different links on our Meetups each week - please bear with us and please do join in! Weed out your thoughts, or if you hit a writer's block, join us in cyberspace (after April 7, we hope to be back the garden and pull some actual weeds!!) Getting our hands working (in the dirt) can sometimes inspire creative flow. Theme is open. Poetry, prose, fiction, non-fiction. Bring your own project to work on, or use the suggested themes and writing prompts announced at each meeting. Writers are free to share from their writing or not, as they wish. Introductions at 12:00. 12:10-1:00 open writing/weeding time 1:00-1:15 break, discussion, share writing if inspired 1:15-2:00 - writing/weeding session 2:00 - stay on if you wish to discuss, share, or continue writing ALL ARE WELCOME! Note, currently there is no power hooked up in the garden site, so if you are planning to write on your laptop, please bring fully charged. There is no fee for the meetup. Donations to support Hayes Valley Art Works are welcome (donation jar), but not required.

Maker's Fridays - make crafts and friends at Hayes Valley Art Works!

Babs Early Hayes Valley Art Works ******* Every Friday, our resident Maker's Friday expert will lead the group in learning new and fun craft projects. The current activity is COMMUNITY SKETCHBOOKS and DODECAHEDRONS! Sketchbooks and art journals are often used to capture inspirations, document the creative process, record ideas, and to share thoughts. We will be creating Community Sketchbooks, to capture idea from around the city. Help build these creative journals by incorporating quotes, sketches, images, words, and designs that are inspired by HAYES VALLEY ART WORKS. Come join us! Materials provided (suspended during health crisis), donation encouraged. All ages welcome! Time: 12-2pm Date: Every Friday Maker's Fridays are free. Donations welcome but not required.
