Artistic Artifacts at 4750 Eisenhower Avenue in Alexandria, VA is the source for the latest “creative finds for creative minds” — no matter your medium, you'll find products, and techniques for your fiber and mixed media projects. Classes/workshops and special events with talented instructors are scheduled on a regular basis, and our shop is also home to the monthly meetings of Judy’s Altered Minds (JAMs), an altered art group open to all who are interested. We are an authorized BERNINA dealer and carry a full line of WonderFil Specialty Threads. The ByAnnie Project Bag 2.0 pattern includes a handy vinyl windowed bags to carry all your projects and supplies in four sizes. The bags have zippered openings and carrying handles. Kits are included in the class fee and contain the pattern, vinyl, zipper, and Soft-and-Stable needed for the medium size bag (10-1/2” x 12-1/2”) that will be created in class. - JAMS Meeting: a creative mixed media group! (No April date due to our Summit)Artistic Artifacts, Alexandria, VA
Join us for Judy’s Altered Minds! Bring your fiber & mixed media show & tell; many members also enjoy making ATCs (artist trading cards) for exchange each month. The store opens at 1:00 pm for your shopping convenience (JAMs attendees receive a 10% discount on their purchases) and the meeting starts at 1:30 pm. New members are always welcome! A $3.00 contribution is requested at each meeting.
JAMs members are art quilters, collage artists, art journal keepers, surface design enthusiasts, paper crafters, art doll/assemblage artists and more! All levels of expertise are represented, and all are welcome. During JAMs meetings, attendees gather support and encouragement for their art through show & tell and enjoy the camaraderie of like-minded friends.
- Beginning Quilting with Dudley Shugart (4 Evening Sessions, Begins June 1)Artistic Artifacts, Alexandria, VA
Four Thursday evening sessions in June: Thursdays, June 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th (total four sessions, each from 5:30 to 8:30 pm).
Learn the entire process of making a quilt, from cutting out your fabric to binding. This class will use FreeSpirit Block Party: 40 Quilt Blocks, 5 Samplers, 20 Modern Designers (purchase required by each student) as a text. The first class will cover constructing blocks the teacher selects; the second class will be blocks each student chooses; the third class covers instruction on setting and sashing and the fourth and final class reviews quilting and binding.
Note: this is not an introduction to sewing or a beginning sewing class; basic sewing skills and knowledge of how to use your machine is a prequisite. Learn more, view your supply list and pay for your registration here:
