B.O.T.A. - Tarot, Qabalah, & The Tree of Life, Study Group, Meeting in Palo Alto

Sat. Feb. 23rd, 2019-------------9:30 AM Subject: --------------------------Qabalistic Terms Specific Term: -------------------Sarah Meaning: -------------------------Princess, Noble Lady Tarot Keys: ----------------------20------------19------------4 Hebrew Letters/Value: ---------Shin, (300)--Resh(200)—Heh(5) Gematria Value: ----------------505 Sarah, also spelled Sarai, in the Old Testament, wife of Abraham and mother of Isaac. Sarah was childless until she was 90 years old. God promised Abraham that she would be “a mother of nations” (Genesis 17:16) and that she would conceive and bear a son, but Sarah did not believe. Isaac, born to Sarah and Abraham in their old age, was the fulfillment of God’s promise to them. The barrenness of Sarah, cited in the preface (Genesis 11:30), stands in tension with the central theme of the Abraham saga, the promise that God will make him the founder of a mighty nation. With respect to the fulfillment of the promise, Sarah embodies the themes of fear and doubt, Abraham those of faith and hope. Her doubt drives Sarah to devise her own way of realizing the promise—she gives Abraham her maidservant, Hagar, so that Hagar might bear a child for them. When the promise is repeated, Sarah expresses her doubt in sarcastic laughter (Genesis 18:12). And when the promise is kept, Sarah, overcome by joy, still implies her doubt had been reasonable (Genesis 21:6–7). Her tomb at Hebron (Genesis 23) was a sign of Abraham’s faith that God’s promise of the land would also be kept. * * * * * ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// The source of the 2018 Qabalistic quote, # 34 is: The Tarot, by Paul Foster Case - Page 157 - 158 . /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// * * * * * Qabalistic Quote, # 35, - Feb. 2019 It may be asked why it is that the Western nations should go to the Hebrew culture for their mystical tradition? The answer will be readily understood by those who are acquainted with the esoteric theory concerning races and sub-races. Everything must have a source. Cultures do not spring out of nothing. The seed-bearers of each new phase of culture must of necessity arise within the preceding culture. No one can deny that Judaism was the matrix of the European spiritual culture when they recall the fact that Jesus and Paul were both Jews. No group except Judaism could possibly have served as the stock upon which the new dispensation was to be grafted because no other group was monotheistic. Pantheism and polytheism had had their day and a new and more spiritual culture was due. Christianity owes its religion to the Jewish culture as surely as Buddhism in the East owes theirs to the Hindu culture. The mysticism of Israel supplies the foundation of modern Western occultism. It forms the theoretical basis upon which all ceremonial is developed. Its famous glyph, the Tree of Life is the best meditation symbol we possess because it is the most comprehensive. B.O.T.A. - Tarot, Qabalah, & The Tree of Life, Study Group, meeting in Palo Alto

Sat. Mar. 23rd, 2019-------------9:30 AM Subject: --------------------------Qabalistic Terms Specific Term: -------------------Yechidah Pronounced: ---------------------Yeh – chee - dah Meaning: -------------------------The Self, the I AM, Indivisible, Tarot Keys: -----------------------[masked] Hebrew Letters: ---------------Yod Cheth Yod Daleth Heh If we ask, “Where is the center of the universe, at which is located the nucleus of the world?” the only logical answer is, “Everywhere.” Thus, more than one philosopher has described God as a circle whose center is everywhere and whose circumference is nowhere. What the Qabalists call the “Small Point,” or initial nucleus of creation, can be nothing other than the focus of the Originating Spirit at some point within its own Boundless Being. For Qabalistic psychologists, this Small Point is identical with Yekhidah, the Indivisible, or the One Self. Hence, this point is symbolized as the Stone of Foundation within the Holy of Holies, but the Temple in which this stone is to be found is one not made with hands. We have already seen that the Hebrew word for Stone is one that combines the words for Father and Son. It is the verbal symbol for the essential identity of God and Man. They who, like Jesus, become aware of this identity, receive the Stone of Foundation. By means of it they come into the Divine Presence. What is meant here is that when one actually has the consciousness of union with the Indivisible, so that it can be put into practical application – “taken in hand” – then one comes into the presence of the Master Principle of the universe. That Master Principle is eternally the Originating Principle. If we begin with the knowledge that awareness of unity with the Originating Principle of the identity of the Son with the Father, is a real experience of human beings involving the activity of an actual point within the human brain (the point that is meant by the sanctum sanctorum), we shall see that this point is at once a center within the brain of the person having the experience and at the same time a point in space, from which lines may be conceived as radiating in every direction. Contemporary with Abraham, and, if the legends be true, an instructor of that venerable sage, Hermes was, and is, the Great Central Sun of Occultism, whose rays have served to illumine the countless teachings which have been promulgated since his time.
