Details
This is the third weekend of the Cuba Caribe festival 2013 (http://www.cubacaribe.org/festival9/index.html). There will be a show by the unique Danza Del Caribe group from Santiago de Cuba and the Alayo Dance Company, founded in 2001 by Ramón Ramos Alayo.
For tickets go to Purchase Weekend Three Tickets Now! and buy for the Sunday April 28, 7 pm performance.
We'll meet at Lake Merritt BART (where you can park your car). From there, in real Cuban spirit, walk 1.7 mi to Cana Caf (http://www.canaoakland.com/cafe)e, the Bay Area’s only authentic Cuban restaurant venue; it serves organic and sustainably farmed ingredients to comprise a menu filled with Cuban Classics.
From Cana will walk the 1.7 mi to the Laney College theater, which is right beside the Lake Merritt BART station.

Ramos Alayo articulates his creative vision through a synthesis of Afro-Cuban modern, folkloric and popular Cuban dance. He was recognized as "Best Dance Dynamo" in the SF Bay Guardian's "Best of the Bay" (2009), and was the recipient of a SF Bay Guardian 2010 Goldie Award, hailed by dance critic Rita Felciano as "the best Afro-Cuban dancer whose choreography stands well beyond traditional modes."
Alayo works with Cuban Modern dancers of Danza Del Caribe to re-stage and premiere work including:
