12-1 Lightroom II

Lightroom is hands down the most popular post-production program for photographers. It combines the capabilities of organizing-editing and outputting in a simple to use program.

This is the second of three classes designed to give you competency in Lightroom, and to make better pictures. Ansel Adams said, "you capture an image, but you make a picture." Lightroom replaces the darkroom that Ansel had, but adds hundreds of additional capabilities.

This class will concentrate on the Develop Module of Lr, which allows you to non-destructively edit your image, and turn ordinary captures into award winners. Contrast, Sharpness, straightening curved buildings, vignetting, and a host of other capabilities will all be explained.

As with all our classes, complete printed notes will be provided.  Meetings are limited to ten students, so everyone can have individual attention.

Jim, I have a problem and hoping you can help. I was in lightroom and my laptop shut down. I have tried to get back into lightroom but I get a message "lightroom catalog named "lightroom catalog" cannot be opened because another application already has it opened". Quit the other copy of lightroom before trying to launch. Do you have any suggestions for me to fix this? I am not very computer savy... Thanks in advance..

Hi. I'm an intermediate level Lightroom user. I have a pretty good understanding of how to use the library module, so I don't think it would be beneficial to attend the first session. (Also, I can't make it on 11/10 anyhow.) I would like to learn more about the settings in the develop module though. My question is, if we skip the first class and move straight to the second, could we still see printed notes from the first one? I would be worried that something might be referenced from class one in class two, so it would be good to have them as a reference. Please let me know.
