Pennypack Trail

This will be a 25 mile out and back ride combining parts of Pennypack North (Philly) and South (Montgomery County) trails. The North section is crushed stone with a dirt section through Fox Chase farm connecting to the South section which is paved. The trail is mostly shaded which should provide some relief from the August heat. The southside has some rolling hills, scenic bridges and underpasses through heavily wooded areas. There are very few reminders that we are in an urban area as we ride along the creek. Upon our return as we approach our starting point, there is a recreational area and the "All Aboard Cafe" food truck which has very tasty eats.

While the north and south trails have additional riding extensions, we will be turning around at Frankford Avenue and avoiding some poorer trail conditions but others could extend the trip up to 30 miles.

Hybrid tires are highly recommended but not required as the North section is in good condition. The Fox Chase connector is about 1 mile and is a dirt and rock path. Helmets and lots of fluids are required.
