This is the second of Winchester Trails’ Seasonal Lecture/Workshop series in memory of long-time member, Jean Smith, who believed that every child should have the opportunity to learn from nature and we can all be empowered to make a difference in our community and in our broader world. Ghandi’s well known saying, “Be the Change You Wish to See in the World” exemplifies this ideal and also reflects the work of Winchester Trails, an environmental education volunteer group, that serves every child in our community. We encourage you to learn about us and join us at: http://www.winchestertrails.org/ Also see our website for future lectures/workshops.
About this Presentation:
Karl Thidemann, a co-founder of Biodiversity for a Livable Climate, will show us the amazing results of decades of scientific research and the practical experience of land managers around the world, that it is possible to undo the ecological problems that we have created, and regenerate our Earth. Life scientists and ecologists have long known that the power of life has molded almost every aspect of the physical earth, including the climate. While reducing carbon emissions is critically important, there is far more that we can do. In fact, we have lost far more carbon to the atmosphere from soil disruption than by burning gas, coal and oil. This presentation will explain how we can take carbon out of the atmosphere and put it back into the ground and thereby beginning to reverse Global Warming.
Archie McIntyre, Executive Director of the Wright-Locke Farm, will help you “connect the dots” and explain what you can do on the local level to support this growing environmental movement that is critically important to saving our planet for our children.
