• What we'll do
To share our love of making music together, our group (based in Historic Lower Mills) will introduce the JOY of playing the ukulele in a group with a larger space with song lyrics and chords projected onto a big white wall.
Did you know that you can borrow a new soprano ukulele (in a soft case) and a clip-on tuner at the nearby Adams Street Branch of the Boston Public Library? Currently, it's the only branch where you can do so.
The Lower Mills Branch of the Boston Public Library is providing light refreshments. This is a FREE event, but we happily welcome your donation or contribution or sponsorship to support this once-a-month initiative -- every 2nd Thursday (except for April & May).
This will be our first time getting together at the library closest to our home base at Walter Baker Building. We will show how easy it is to play the ukulele by going through popular songs that are VERY EASY for beginners.
Each of these "Fun for Ukulele" sessions will begin with warm-up exercises.
Thursday dates at the library with themes:
January 10th: intro to ukulele with easy songs for the ukulele
February 14th: love songs in movies (anticipation of the Oscars)
March 14th: Irish songs
Plenty of FREE parking on the street and lots of CVS / church directly opposite. The library is also a short walking distance from the Milton T-station (Mattapan trolley from Ashmont on the Red Line) or any of the buses that stop on Dorchester and Washington.
• Songs we will be doing
Jukebox of 99 three-chord songs - take your pick!
Here's our unique one and only Choco-lele Commercial Mash-up -- do you recognise these jingles?
• What to bring
Ukulele + tuner. Extra ukuleles if you have. We will use the library's projector to beam/project song sheets.
