Ukulele Workshops & Jam Sessions in Historic Lower Mills: Three Chord Songs

• What we'll do

5:00 - 6:30 pm Crash course for complete beginners $20 (advance payment please). Previous attendees of workshops here can participate for a refresher at $10. Ukulele also available for rent (with prior reservation).

7:00 - 9:30 pm Jam session with a break - FREE

The theme today is three chord songs. You'll be surprised how many there are. Excellent way to practise switching between chords for beginners and focus on strumming patterns to make it interesting.

Download the 26-page PDF (990kB) of the 23 Three Chord Songs in the key of C major, using only the primary chords of C or C7, F, and G or G7. At a later date, we will explore three-chord songs with other chords. Please note: print your own songbook or download to your iPad or other computer device or share with others.

We will end with our usual "I'll See You in My Dreams" and "Bring Me Sunshine" - whose song sheets are linked from our ukulele webpage.

Ours is a unique opportunity to play music in the former administrative building of the oldest chocolate factory in America. Walter Baker Artist Lofts has a permanent exhibit by the artists in residence. The common room (with temporary exhibit) is on the right-hand side of the front entrance. This is a grassroots initiative to introduce the joy of ukulele to this part of Boston. Location is visible from the Milton-T station (red line to Ashmont, then Mattanpan trolley).

• What to bring
Ukulele +, own refreshments & snacks (optional to share), printout, music stand, and/or iPad etc for music.
Provided: tables, chairs, free wifi.
