Let's Write! In this 6-week memoir-writing workshop, you will tap deep into your creative potential. This is a generative writing class, where you will receive the guidance, support and encouragement to dive into your stories and let them flow. At the end of the 6-week session, you will come away with a large body of creative work. All levels of experience welcome!
When: Thursdays, Nov 8 - Dec 20 (skipping the week of Thanksgiving)
Time: 5:15 - 7:15 pm
To register: Please email me at [masked] as
MeetUp doesn't reflect the number of confirmed students
Format: Every class begins with a brief discussion of craft and a literary example from writers like Annie Lamott, Dani Shapiro and Cheryl Strayed. You will then receive a guided writing prompt and the time and space to let your words flow. At the end of the writing sessions, you will have the opportunity to share your work in a facilitated, positive environment.
Goals: Some of my students are working on book-length memoirs, others are working on essays and vignettes. Others just want guided, supported writing time to hone their craft and to explore their creative expression.
Venue: Classes are held in the writing studio near North Boulder Park (the address will be sent in your registration confirmation)
Make-Up Policy: Things happen! If you miss a class, you are welcome to make up the day on a weekend workshop. I offer one workshop a month on a Sunday afternoon/evening. The workshops are open to the general public for $25, so please bring your friends to try out the class!
Facilitator: Ashley Shires, M.A.
