Nimbus is Back! The 2026 Relaunch (Damian Maclennan)
Microsoft HQ - Brisbane, Level 28, 400 George Street, Brisbane, AUNimbus is an open-source .NET message bus library that's now over 13 years old. While the project hasn't had much public activity for a while, it's actually been quietly powering event-driven, distributed systems in production for years and processing millions and millions of transactions.
In this talk, we'll look the origins of the project. Why it was built, the problems it set out to solve, and how it has evolved.
Asynchronous messaging is at the core of what Nimbus does, and we'll explore why it's such a compelling pattern for modern distributed systems, and some of the scenarios and capabilities it has unlocked in real world systems.
We'll also cover what's new in the 2026 relaunch, including a live demo, and finish up with how you can start using it.

EF Core Bench Lab โ A Peek into the Black Box (JK)
Microsoft HQ - Brisbane, Level 28, 400 George Street, Brisbane, AUEF Core writes SQL so you don't have to. But when that SQL is slow, bloated, or just weirdโhow do you even know? Most developers never see what EF Core actually sends to the database. Time to change that.
I built EF Core Bench Lab after one too many times optimising queries locally, only to watch them fall apart in prodโdifferent data, different execution plans, different problems. The tool intercepts queries and execution plans, turning the invisible visible. We'll use it to catch performance anti-patterns in the act, then hand the evidence to AI for rapid diagnosis. You'll see real examples of N+1s, cartesian products, and tracking trapsโand why that index you added in dev made everything worse in prod.
Peek inside the black box. You might be surprised what's in there.
