What we're about

We're Bristol's largest and most inclusive social group for vegetarians and vegans! The group began life eight years ago with a focus on sampling the finest vegetarian and vegan cuisine that Bristol and the surrounding areas have to offer. Since then we've diversified to also offer guided walks and assorted social events, including Bristol's only regular vegetarian & vegan board gaming evenings!

Everyone is welcome at our events, including those who are not vegetarian, but we ask that everyone engages with the spirit of our events and remains respectful to our vegetarian and vegan members. This is a group for meeting like minded individuals, but it's not a platform for imposing like-mindedness upon others. We're a group of friendly individuals interested in participating in a variety of different activities as part of an inclusive vegetarian and vegan community in Bristol and the surrounding areas.

New members are welcome at all events. If you're vegetarian, vegan, or if you just get along with vegetarians and vegans, why not join us and come along to an event or two?

Best wishes,

Ryan - Organiser

Board Game Nights at the Greenbank

The Greenbank Pub

Hi everyone! Vegetarian and Vegan Board game evenings will continue! I look to ensure the Meetup group is funded by those who use it the most. You may be aware that Meetup fees amount to ~£15 per month. The next fees will fall due in August, for a period of six months. I therefore collect donations at Board Game evenings and other Meetup events. The suggested donation is £1 for Board Game events and £0.50 for other events. Should donations exceed the Meetup fees it may be possible to buy some small board games on behalf of the group, which would provide some needed variety. The Greenbank has generously given us two tables every fortnight for board games. We're usually located at the back of the pub, either at the far end near the garden, or below the clock near the entrance to the kitchens. Please note the following: 1. The pub has a few different options for vegan and veggie food: http://thegreenbankbristol.co.uk/#Menu. They typically put a special on for our events. There's no obligation to purchase food, but we rely on the goodwill of the venue, so please do buy something if you can. 2. You're welcome to arrive later than 6pm, but if you're planning to arrive late it would be helpful if you could post on this event to let us know, so that we're not all engrossed in long board games when you arrive. 3. Please do bring games if you have something you'd like to play. As always, let me know if you have any questions.

Posted on behalf of Bob Nicholls. The BASE cafe in Easton holds a weekly board game evening between 6.30pm and 9pm. Soup (suitable for vegetarians and vegans) is on offer for a £1 donation. The cafe is a vegan space, and everyone is welcome. Please note that this is separate from our regular Tuesday board game evenings, which take place at the Greenbank Pub or Resbite Cafe. Board Game Night at Resbite

Resbite Cafe

Hi everyone! About Vegetarian and Vegan Board Game Nights: We first began organising Board Game evenings almost three years ago, at the Phoenix Cafe. The organisers and the venues have changed, but we're pleased to still be going strong. These evenings cater to all levels of board game experience, so you needn't worry if you've little or no familiarity with board games. The games we play range in complexity and length, and cater for a variety of tastes. For example we have bluffing games, set collection games, tile laying games, word games and strategy games. It's a friendly, relaxed environment, and most of the people who attend are vegetarians or vegans first, and board game players second. About the Resbite Cafe: The cafe is opening in the evening especially for us. They are no longer serving food on Tuesdays, but we are free to bring our own food, or have food delivered from elsewhere. One of our regular attendees, Bob Nicholls, will also be offering soup in exchange for a small donation. About our Meetup Group: We encourage regular attendees of Board Game evenings to make a voluntary donation of £1, which goes towards the cost of running the Meetup group. It costs us around £15 per month just to cover the Meetup subscription, so without donations the group will close down permanently. As always, let me know if you have any questions.
