Computational law & Blockchain Festival - BXL node - day 2 - HACK
Details
The idea is to as the Brussels node plug into the Computational Law & Blockchain Festival 2018 (http://legalhackers.org/clbfest2018/) over the weekend. This is the entire day part wherein we HACK, participating in the (global) challenges.Due to organisational constraints the Saturday is likely to be the only day we participate. (For the LEARN part - an afternoon of speakers on blockchain - we refer to the event on the same day , the 17th in the afternoon: https://www.meetup.com/Brussels-Legal-Hackers/events/248475640/)
We would like to take the entire day to create some groups to participate in some of the global challenges of the HACKATHON. In general the challenges require a description of the solution, a "quick and dirty" prototype of the coding and a business case, so all kinds of profiles are welcome: business people, coders, lawyers, critical "users", ... Interesting is that most of the challenges have a nice potential rewards (some have a cash reward, others allow to go and present the solution in the US, etc.). ==> If there is an interest, we might still open the Friday (16/3) to assemble the groups and get some initial idea pitches.
The entry to the event is free. For now it looks like we won't be able to provide the catering for free, so we would ask you to pay the democratic prizes for drinks at Digityser. We could also look to jointly go for a bite the neighbourhood or jointly order some takeout food.
This is what we are at now. We continue to look for
- speakers, on all topics, but perhaps mainly on the basics of the distributed ledger and smart contract concepts
- sponsors
- volunteers
If you're interested in that or know somebody that could help, please, pass on the information via a private message or in the comments (note: beyond names and expertise no personal data like email in de comments).

MORE DETAIL
We would join at Digityser around 9h00 to then divide up into groups to work on a specific challenge. It can be one of the global challenges, but the groups would be free to work on a challenge of their own if they want to. The team will need all types of backgrounds to conceptualise a solution, write up idea and the underlying business model (e.g. using a business model canvas) so as to make it sustainable, think of the basics mechanics, put them in a prototype (ideally already with code), make a video of the idea at the beginning and make a video of the result at the end, ... So yes, you want a coder in the group, but also a marketer, a project manager, a lawyer, ... More or less like a party on a roleplaying quest.
During the morning, (in the current planning) there will be little "interruption", except perhaps by broadcasts from asian nodes.
Around noon, we suggest going out with the whole group looking for something to eat, but teams can go their own way if the prefer continuing the discussion / creative process. There are also solutions with delivery services, on which we will try to provide more info on the day.
In the afternoon the groups can continue to work on their projects. However, then there will be more possibilities (e.g. when you temporary want to do something different or ask questions to an expert) to connect with other nodes (more will have woken up) and you will be able to join one or more sessions by esteemed speakers (see the other event page mentioned above).
