What we're about

We're a fun bunch of players of all levels. We play for FUN & LEARNING every 1st Thursday and 3rd Tuesday of each month at the 3rd Deck Burger Bar Restaurant which is where the Southern Belle River Boat is located.

When someone hosts a tournament, we play for prizes. We suggest beginners (and those who haven't played in a while) come and learn on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Tournaments are not the time to ask questions on strategy. They are for intermediate and advanced players more seasoned players and can be fast paced. Our tournaments are held in our members’ homes occasionally and are also posted on our site. Therefore, we recommend if you are a little rusty or you'd like to learn the game, please attend a Tuesday or Thursday event at 3rd Deck!

We play North American rules (9 to Right Bower) and Stick the Dealer, where the dealer calls suit if everyone has gone around twice on bidding and passed. For anyone who wants to understand the rules about Euchre, please click on More, then Files. You will see the rules there.

You can also practice for free and learn the rules at online game websites such ascardgames.io/euchre.com, Euchre 3D, https://www.euchreinfo.com (https://www.euchreinfo.com/)/, https://www.wikihow.com/Sample/Euchre-Rules , & http://www.Pogo.com or Yahoo Games.

Christmas Party, Tournament, Ugly Sweater Contest, Gift Exchange Vaccinated only

Please read everything below.
It's Christmas party, mini tournament, ugly sweater contest and gift exchange at Sue's home. Vaccinated members only.

Gifts should be in good taste about $20 in value. Good rule of thumb bring something you would like to come home with.

Bring Potluck Dish and beverage of your choice. Please put in comments what you are bringing. Drinks, bread, plates, silverware and cups will be provided by Sue.

If you don't want to play in the tournament, please come for the meal and gift exchange. The party and gift exchange is first half the night. This is a fun social night not a serious tournament. Sue will probably have some fun additions like "Unders". We would love to have you in the tournament even if you haven't played very long. Newbies who have played before are welcomed.

Prizes for Most Popular Ugly Sweater! We will vote for it.

If you have any questions, message Ann or Sue.

Chattanooga Euchre Meetup Tournament Rules

1- Intermediate and advanced players preferred (except for this event). We suggest beginners (and those who haven't played in a while) come and learn on Monday and Thursday night. Tournaments are not the time to ask questions on strategy. Table talk is not allowed.

2- If you make a reservation and can't attend, please cancel ASAP. We depend on specific numbers to determine play, unlike Mondays and Thursdays. WE START PROMPTLY AT THE STATED TIME (see above). Please arrive 15 minutes before the stated time of play to pay and receive your seat number and score sheet. If you can't come at that time, please don't sign up, or cancel ASAP. We understand things happen and you might be late once in a while and we will wait for you if we know you are coming, but please be considerate of others. Comment below if you're running a late. It will be up to the host(s) to decide whether we start without you.

3- We play “a card laid is a card played” except in the case of a renege. If a renege occurs, it can be corrected before the next trick is led without penalty. When discovered, the opposing team receives 2 points (4 points if it is a loner hand) immediately and the play comes to an end. We also play “stick the dealer.”

4- Host(s) determines whether a tournament will be timed, and that information is included in the Meetup announcement of the event.

Timed play moves very fast, with the use of a timer, and there is not much talking during play.

Non-timed play is more relaxed. Play needs to be steady and faster than Monday and Thursday nights because we play more rounds (roughly equivalent of 8-10 games).

Other aspects (number of rounds, “going under,” etc.) depend on the number of players in attendance and will be determined at the tournament. We play with two decks, so that an extra deck will be shuffled for the user of the next dealer. Cutting is not necessary and is strongly discouraged in timed tournaments.

5- The host(s) also determines what type or party (if so desired) the tournament will be. If you wish to participate in the pre-tournament socializing, please bring a side dish, appetizer, or dessert (unless directed otherwise) to share an hour before play. You are welcome to come only for the tournament if you want. Buy-in is determined by the host and split by the top 3 winners. Please help clean up and thank the host(s), too. Not everyone plays the same, so please be patient with others.

The Third Saturday of the Month Online Euchre Social Night.

Online event

Here is the link that you will need:

https://onecoast.zoom.us/j/8625995751

Each host has a different zoom address. This is for only when Sandy is host.

PLEASE CHECK IT AND SEE THAT IT WORKS FOR YOU TOO. The actual social won't start until Margaret opens it up at 6:30 though, but you can go there and see that you are connected.

Here are the details:

First and most importantly. You need to get the Euchre 3D app on your device. If you google Euchre 3D, you can find the app for android devices and at the app for Apple devices at the app store. (Don't try it for your computer it messed mine up.)

We will be hosting the event at 6:30 on Zoom for socializing and we'll start playing at 7 pm. THE LINK MAY NOT WORK IF YOU ARRIVE BEFORE THE HOST, MARGARET, OPENS OR STARTS THE SOCIAL. PLEASE BE PATIENT. We stop playing whenever we get tired. You can play for an hour or all night. It is up to you.

We can play as a group on Euchre 3D and then see and talk to each other simultaneously on Zoom. Zoom even has the capability to go into break out sessions so that you have groups of 4 people who are playing Euchre on 3D if they have 2 devices each.

We will be in specific rooms in 3D Euchre. If everyone in your assigned group/table doesn't join quickly and outsiders join, you just leave the table and pick another table. It will be more clear when we are doing it. After we play a game we will switch games and who we play with. Like in a tournament, but not for money.

If you can't figure out how to get on Zoom, I won't be able to help you via the computer or Bob's cell. You can call be on my home phone if you have it. If you don't, private message me and I'll give it to you in advance.

If you have any questions, let me know and I'll try and get them
answered for all of us.

You can also invite friends and family from all over the country/world to play with us. Guests are welcomed and encouraged.

So please sign up if you are interested in joining us. We have players from Georgia, New York, Michigan, Colorado, Colombia and the Philippines playing with us. Member who once lived in Chattanooga who now can play with us again.

Thank you,
Ann
