Chel Hee Lee will focus on the practical aspects of R programming when developing a package. For the purpose of illustration, the problem of estimating the unknown size (such as the number of words William Shakespeare know or the number of households during the outbreak of cholera) is going to be mainly discussed. The participants have an opportunity to learn the following basics:

  1. a concept of estimating equation that cannot be solved by hand,
  2. several numerical techniques to solve that equation,
  3. error-handling when writing a user-defined function, and
  4. methods for objective-oriented programming

This workshop will take you to the next stage of R programming for your work. If time is permitted, we will see another example of Bayesian linear regression.
