What we're about

This is a group for people who enjoy golf or just want to get out and play regularly. The most important goal of our group is to enjoy ourselves with like minded people and promote the social aspect of golf and getting together. Sometimes we keep score, sometimes we don't keep score, but we always have fun.

We don't charge extra fees so the price you pay for events is the regular venue price or a discounted price arranged by the Organizers. Our Organizers and Event Facilitators volunteer their time for the love of golf and getting fun people together.

We play a variety of courses and have planned golf outings for every skill level including: • Driving Range - Practice, practice, practice and get some helpful tips from the organizer. We plan driving range get-togethers year round.

•Drive Pitch Putt - A clinic night to practice on the range, chipping, sand play and putting with helpful tips from the organizer(s).

• Beginners Delight - 9 hole par 3 for new golfers and those wanting to tune up their iron play .

•9 Hole Play - perfect for an evening or early morning 9 hole round on regular golf courses.

• Regular 18's - we book groups of foursomes for 18 holes at a variety of courses in and around Calgary. Often these include 2 for 1 green fees and other discounts.

• Fun Tournaments - we host a variety of tournaments for our members throughout the year including a Spring kick off and Fall wind up, some with prizes and apre' golf eats and beverages.

Whether you are new to golf, a long time fan, getting back into the game, a hacker or handicapper, we have golf for everyone. We promote a group environment of tolerance and acceptance regardless of our members background or preferences.

Any member can suggest an event, but please be aware that all activities under the Calgary Social Golfers banner must follow our guidelines, maintain our positive image at venues and promote enjoyment of golf for our members.

We emphasize proper golf etiquette, appropriate golf attire and the ready play format so that all can enjoy a fun day. Often we have lunch or go to a pub after the round to socialize and discuss the great golf shots of the day. Most of all, we want the game of golf to be a fun and positive outing at each of our events

Welcome.

May 11 Banff Springs GC 18 holes, $79 includes cart and range. Mother’s Day wkd

Bucket list course at Banff Springs for only $79 per person plus tax, includes power cart and warm up range balls. Payment due at the course directly to pro shop. I have booked 2:33pm, 2:42pm & 2:51pm and I will send out people and their corresponding tee times closer to the date. Sunset is 9:20pm, we have over 6 hrs of daylight although this is definitely the slowest round I’ve played last year. Regular rate is $200, but I got this special through the golf show, and is only available after 2pm on first week of course opening. 1. Please please please be respectful of my request for a 3 days’ advance cancellation notification, so that waitlisters can take any fortfeited spots. Please note it is on Mother’s Day weekend. A reminder that the course has a lengthy cancellation policy and no shows will be charged full green fees. I’m asking for an additional day so that any one on the wait list can better plan for changes (ie might have made other plans for Mother’s Day weekend, not expecting to get backfilled), and the extra day also gives me reaction time to cancel vacant spots if required. In the event that you have to cancel last minute and the golf course is unwilling to forgive me the charge, we will proceed per Meetup Group policy. 2. Give yourself time to look around, buy souvenirs, gear up, and warm up at the range which is in a beautiful spot. The pro shop is typically closed by the time we finish due to early season, so all souvenir shopping needs to be done pre round. Recommend you give yourself 1 hr 30 mins to drive to Banff assuming no construction or delays on a Mother’s Day weekend. Give yourself another 15 minutes to get to the club house from Banff exit (it is a long winding road through the golf course). You will want to allow extra time to find the course if you have never been there. You will also need a park pass at the park entrance, not included in the price. 3. In 2016 I played on the same date and I played through a snow squall. Please dress warm. The May weather in the mountains can be unpredictable and is quite cooler than Calgary... single digits temps can be expected. I had to buy a sweater last year as my golf jacket wasn’t warm enough. 4. This is going to proceed rain or shine. We have power carts, so golfing in the rain is just fine if you have rain gear and rain gloves, but let’s hope it’s good weather. 5. Closer to the date of the event, I will provide you with my cell number in case anything comes up on the day (ie running late, getting lost, questions etc). You are encouraged to provide me with yours but this is not required. We really want to avoid getting charged for no-show members, this is purely volunteering to book the deal on my personal credit cards. Thanks for understanding.

TEE TIME ADDED! SUNDAY, MAY 12 Banff Springs 18 holes, $79

Banff Springs Golf Course

I've booked another tee time at 3 pm to get some people off the waitlist. To accommodate some of those on the waitlist for Jonathan's Saturday golf at Banff Springs, I've booked 3 tee times for SUNDAY, MAY 12. The deal is the same, $79 per person plus tax, includes power cart and warm up range balls. Payment due at the course directly to pro shop. I have booked 2:33 pm, 2:42 pm and 2:51. Regular rate is $200 and this deal is only available after 2pm on first week of course opening. The course is asking that everyone show up 30 minutes before their tee time. If you RSVP and you are on Jonathan's waitlist for May 11, please take yourself off his waitlist. 1. My request for 3 days' advance cancellation notification is the same as Jonathan's. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE respect the 3 days’ advance cancellation notification (Thursday, May 9), so that waitlisters can take any fortfeited spots. A reminder that the course has a lengthy cancellation policy and no shows will be charged full green fees. I’m asking for an additional day so that any one on the wait list can better plan for changes (ie: might have made other plans for Mother’s Day weekend, not expecting to get backfilled), and the extra day also gives me reaction time to cancel vacant spots if required. AND ANOTHER BANFF TIME!, Crazy! Sunday, May 12th!!

Banff Springs Golf Course

I have followed Jade's fine example and booked another time! I even cut and pasted most of her description content! Thanks Jade! We have booked another tee time at 3:18 to help out and also get even more people off the waitlist. I will be playing the day before, on Saturday, in a private booking a few start times behind Jonathan. To accommodate anyone on the waitlist for Jonathan's Saturday or Jade's Sunday golf at Banff Springs, I've booked just one more for SUNDAY, MAY 12. The deal is the same, $79 per person plus tax, includes power cart and warm up range balls. Payment due at the course directly to pro shop. This new time is 3:18. Regular rate is $200 and this deal is only available after 2pm on first week of course opening. The course is asking that everyone show up 30 minutes before their tee time. Hence the 2:30 arrival time above. If you RSVP and are on either Jonathan or Jade's waitlists please take yourself off that list. 1. My request for 3 days' advance cancellation notification is the same as Jonathan and Jade's. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE respect the three days advance cancellation notification (Thursday, May 9), so that waitlisters can take any forfeited spots. A reminder that the course has a lengthy cancellation policy and no shows will be charged full green fees. In the event that you have to cancel last minute and the golf course is unwilling to forgive me the charge, we will proceed per Meetup Group policy. 2. Give yourself time to look around, buy souvenirs, gear up, and warm up at the range which is in a beautiful spot. The pro shop is typically closed by the time we finish due to early season, so all souvenir shopping needs to be done pre-round. We have power carts, so golfing in the rain is just fine if you have rain gear and rain gloves, but let’s hope it’s good weather. 5. I will ask for volunteers from those who RSVP and are a 'go' to be the contact number for others for this 3:18 tee time (i.e. running late, getting lost, questions, etc). Remember that you will be fully charged for no-shows or, possibly, a cancellation within three days (if we can't find a replacement). THANKS EVERYONE! SO LOOKING FORWARD TO A GREAT SEASON! GOLF ON! :)
