I've had a request to put on a custom intensive L1/L2 Canyoneering Course. I wanted to see if there were other people interested and qualified. If you think you would be interested, you can RSVP to this event (make sure to answer the question it asks), or you can go to this link and answer the one question survey (which will be open until Fri 7/12):
Or feel free to IM me your e-mail address, phone # and brief vertical sport background.
This would be a VERY fast moving course, as the normal L1 is around 23 hours and L2 is normally around 20 hours.
We would discuss all topics at a high level, and dig into details as necessary. For exercises, we would demonstrate it, and then do it once (all students may not get to do each exercise, like we do in the normal L1 and L2 courses - so you need to be comfortable enough with rope work where you can learn by seeing it twice.)
This course would be suitable for people who have a moderate to advanced level of experience in vertical rope sports (climbing, mountaineering, caving, etc) and want to learn canyoneering specific techniques. You should already be familiar with rappelling, locking off, common knots, maybe some anchoring (such as setting a top rope anchor or cleaning a sport route), maybe have done a couple canyons already but using climbing techniques, etc. This would NOT be suitable for beginners. Beginners should take a normal L1 course (there are 3 coming up on 7/12, 8/9 and 8/23.) See: https://www.meetup.com/CanyoneeringCO/events/
We would start on Friday, July 19 around 6pm thru 9pm, and then Saturday and Sunday would go from 7am through around 6pm-ish. The cost would be $495.
