• What we'll do
If you’ve looked into programming and what is required to become a developer, chances are you’ve become overwhelmed with the amount of information out there. The technology behind the web is evolving faster than ever, so where do you start sorting the facts from the outdated facts? What does “full stack” mean? What technologies that aren’t coding related are required for backend programming?

In this free crash course, your instructor will cover and define many terms surrounding the backend programming “world” and hopefully demystify how it all works together. This session will remain focused on the high level and not dive into any particular language or technology. If you do have specific questions regarding a specific technology - your instructor will be happy to help with understanding.

Here is an overview of topics that are up for discussion. If questions arise or the attendees want to go in a different direction - we can do that:
How is Backend Web Development different from Frontend Web Development?
What is a database exactly?
What is the cloud?
How does code on a server run when I access a website?
What are some languages that are used for backend web development

Questions? If you would like to submit a question in private that your instructor can answer for the group, feel free to email: joel at buildcarolina dot org.
