What we're about

Catholic Singles of Greater Pittsburgh (CSGP) is a club whose mission is to bring together single Catholic professionals so they can meet in a Christian context. We do this by sponsoring social, recreational, athletic, cultural, charitable, and spiritual activities in which they can participate.

Membership in the CSGP Meetup site is free and is open to people who would like to learn more about our club, try some of our activities, and make new friends. The site is part of our outreach to single Catholics who may not be familiar with our club. It offers a sample of our public activities. Membership in the CSGP Club (officially known as the Catholic Alumni Club (CAC) of Pittsburgh) requires payment of $20 annual dues (for Emailed newsletter, $30 for US Mail) and is open to single Catholic professionals (visit our club's website at http://www.CACPittsburgh.org for complete details). Club members receive our monthly newsletter, discounts at some events, and the opportunity to attend Regional and National Conventions with single Catholics from other chapters of our organization.

Please note that club members learn about activities through our newsletter and prospective members may find us through other online sources besides Meetup as well as through notices in parish bulletins. So there probably will be more people attending a given activity than the Meetup RSVPs would indicate. We hope to see you at an event soon!

The Catholic Alumni Club of Pittsburgh is one chapter out of 24 throughout the United States. The Pittsburgh chapter has been in existence since 1966.

Please do not solicit our members, contact them with unwarranted Emails, ask for money, etc. Also if you want to get to know someone, attend an event that they are going to and ask them if you can send them a message. I do tell members to report unwanted contacting to be reported to the headquarters of Meetup for the person to be removed.

We travel to the North Side this month for a Saturday dinner at a nice Italian restaurant. They have a good reputation. Join our Spring/Summer Tennis League

Moore Park in Brookline

2019 CAC TEAM TENNIS LEAGUE The season will begin in late April and last 12 to 15 weeks, after which a playoff format will end the season. CAC will continue to organize a summer tennis league for anyone over 21 years old and single. Teams will be formed with matches held on Monday and/or Tuesday evenings beginning at 7:30 PM at Moore Park in Brookline. Awards will be presented at the sports picnic in September. Application deadline is March 23. Applications will be accepted on a 1st come, 1st served basis. If enough players sign up before the deadline (to fill each team), all additional applications will be placed on the waiting list. We will have a maximum of 4 teams consisting of a maximum of 6 women and 6 men. There will be no refunds after a player has been assigned to a team (late March). The match will begin at 7:30 pm. If you arrive after 7:40, you will not be able to play that night. This rule will be strictly enforced unless you call your coach by 7:30. The season will continue to feature an all doubles format. This will allow players of all skill levels to participate. The cost of the tennis league is $20 for CAC members and $25 for non-CAC members. If you are also in the softball league, your cost is $10 for CAC members and $15 for non-CAC members. The price includes tennis balls for the evening, awards, and the catered sports picnic. The additional $10.00 for the non-softball players will cover the cost of the September catered picnic (softball players paid for the picnic when they signed up for softball). If you have a schedule restriction or there is a team and/or another player that you would like to be on the same team with, list this under "comments" in the application. ABBREVIATED DIRECTIONS TO MOORE PARK - (More complete directions will be sent with the schedule/team packets) Coming through the Liberty Tunnels heading South from Pittsburgh continue straight on Rt. 19. Stay in the left lane for less than one tenth of a mile, then turn left at the first light, which is Pioneer Ave. Follow Pioneer Ave. approximately one and one half miles. Moore Park will be on the left side of the road before Elizabeth Seton School.

Spring Flower Show at Phipps Conservatory

Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens

Join us as we welcome the spring with a visit to Phipp’s beautiful spring Flower show. The theme this year is “Gardens of the Rainbow.” Phipps will present a close up view of vibrant lilies, tulips, daffodils, hyacinths and more throughout the glasshouse. You will marvel at the kaleidoscope of color as tens of thousands of spring blooms burst forth in all the season's vibrant hues. They also have a Café where we can enjoy a bite to eat afterwards. Tickets cost $18 for adults, and $17 for seniors 62+. We will meet in the lobby at the ticket desk at 1 PM. You can call me, Mike Kernan, when you arrive. My cell is[masked]. Parking: Free parking for visitors is available in the center island on Schenley Drive, right in front of the building. Metered street parking is also free all day on Sundays, and is available on either side of Schenley Drive. Accessible parking is available near the Conservatory's front entrance, running parallel to the bike lane.

$2 – Payable upon arrival Everyone is welcome to join us every Tuesday* from 6:30 to 8:30 pm when we enjoy several friendly games of volleyball at Pittsburgh Classical Academy, formerly Greenway Middle School. We try to keep the teams as even as possible and make adjustments as needed. We will have a maximum of 3 teams. Each team will play two games then sit out one game. ** The gym door has to stay closed for security reasons. Please knock and wait a minute for someone to open the door. ** Afterwards, join us at the Village Tavern (424 S. Main St, Pgh, PA 15220 (West End) for some more socializing. For more information, contact Gary Urbatis at[masked] (C). ** Please note that there are at least 8 people that attend our weekly volleyball that don't RSVP on Meetup. ** *Note: In the event of any Tuesday closure of the Pittsburgh Public Schools, volleyball will not take place.
