2018's Kickoff Event

• What we'll do

As one of our last actions of 2017, we'd like to announce our next event for ChiTownBio. We're going to kick things off building on the momentum for last time, doing some bioart in order to explore the realm of biotechnology. We're also hoping to start a conversation about possible courses or workshops in the coming year as we continue to complete our paperwork for non-profit status. Come and help us talk about our plans for the coming year and have some fun getting your hands dirty with some biotechnology.

At this event, we're going to be playing with biomaterials. Specifically, we're going to be playing with mycelium, the root-like structures of a fungus. We're going to be building sculptures and forms. Bring a small mold, and build something out of mushrooms! We recommend a cookie cutter, a small plastic container, or a silicone mold. And come ready to get your hands dirty (but not too dirty; we'll provide some ethanol and some gloves!)!

We'll provide some stuff to play with. Just come with an open mind and some curiosity to spare.
