ChiTownBio is starting a Bioinformatics Club! We're starting a monthly meeting of bio-enthusiasts looking to work on bioinformatics projects at all levels. Whether you've only just heard the term or whether you've had years of experience, join like minded enthusiasts for a few hours of discussion, demonstrations, and networking.

We're going to start with some casual, short presentations and then move towards a bit of coworking so people can connect in the various specialty areas. We'll be hosting this event monthly, and we look forward to meeting as many of you as possible!

ChiTownBio is dedicated to putting the knowledge, skills, and tools of biotechnology into the hands of all Chicagoans who want to explore the living world and use it to benefit our community. Understanding the biotechnology needs of the future requires knowing what problems we're facing and what we need to be focusing on it. One of the biggest problems facing our planet and the biological world is the overuse of and waste buildup from plastics. What exactly does that mean, and what can we do about it? Rather than just talk about it, let's go out and do something about it.
It's Septmber, and soon we'll be done enjoying the beautiful days on the beach! But just because it's cooling down a bit, doesn't mean there's no trash on the baech. We're hosting another event with the Alliance for the Great Lakes cleaning up a local beach, trying to figure out what waste is out there, and then discussing the implications of what we find. Join us for a day at the beach and fun in the sun. Some of our members and organizers will be there answering questions and sharing information on what will hopefully be a beautiful Chicago Summer morning.

We're continuing our series of networking opportunities to discuss challenges, opportunities, and frustrations while enjoying an evening with your professional peers from around Chicagoland.
For October, we’re trying a brand new venue to us: Rebel and Rye! Rebel and Rye is a whiskey bar in the Chicago's River West and Fulton Market area. We're excited to return to the neighborhood and pumped to make new friends, so be friendly to your bartenders for our first visit.
