This is the first in a series of holiday events at the Center that will help make the holidays a little brighter for everyone in the community. The event not only feeds the homeless, but also aims to help “winterize” them. Our guests receive winter essentials such as thermal underwear, coats, hats, gloves, and toiletries. Clients also have the opportunity to speak with healthcare providers, housing agencies, and job training facilitators, all of whom assist with social service needs. This year, the event will also feature access to dental care and personal hygiene services such as manicures and haircuts.
We need volunteers to help assist guests, distribute materials and serve lunch, as well as help with event take-down. We invite volunteers to share a Thanksgiving with the guests as well. Parking is limited for the event, so we encourage volunteers to take public transportation. Because of the nature of the event, we require volunteers to RSVP.
