About us

Do you enjoy helping others? New in town? Like fun people who smile a lot? Has the rat race got you down? Want a calendar full of unique and fun things to do? TRY VOLUNTEERING!

Chicago Fun Volunteers is a unique & open forum thru which all altruistic activity within the area can be monitored. Join and help our large and active community of members keep tabs on opportunities in: Fests, Park Districts, United Way, Food Pantries, Tutoring, After school Programs, Local Cleanups, Senior Centers, Animal Shelters, and more... The unique MEETUP layout is ideal for this type of group concept since we've made it easy for ANY MEMBER TO POST volunteer events online, similar to putting up a flier in a coffee house for people to see. The difference here is that every Fun Volunteer in the Chicago area will see your event, all from the comfort of their homes...

This group's setup was made with you, the fun volunteer, in mind. Think of it as YOUR space, a "kiosk" on the web, where communication is expected for it to work. Feel free to post , organize, or discuss new ideas in the spirit of GOODWILL & FUN.

FUN VOLUNTEERS is NOT racially, religious, politically, sex, age, disability, relationship or social-status discriminate! We are also 100% FREE and NOT-FOR-PROFIT.

Welcome and We Hope You Enjoy Your Stay!

If you are available to help deliver some lunch bags to a shelter or site, please come with an empty car and trunk, we will try to match you with a site that is along your route home. Typical delivery may be 2 to 4 giant garbage bags in size.

The gym is divided into 2 volunteer groups. If you plan to help make the ham sandwiches, food handling gloves and hair nets are required and provided. You can also wear your own hat or hair bandana to manage your hair. You do not need to wear any food safety items on the sandwich bagging side.

Our sandwich making project is 100% volunteer run, with no paid staff or office space overhead. We borrow space from the community centers to gather and make these meals each month. To date, we have delivered over 300,000 lunch bag meals across the city in the last 15 years. We are always looking for more donations in bulk quantity to make more sandwices, in particular: tin foil wraps, paper lunch bags, gloves, hairnets, chips, deli meat and individually wrapped snacks (candy, rice crispy, pastry, etc) to go into a lunch bag. If you have a big SUV, van or truck, we can use your help in gathering the donations on the Fridays before the Saturday assembly event. Please visit www.hts23.com for more information or contribute. Thank you.
