Smart Self-Publishing Workshop - free and open to the public
Sunday, Nov. 24, 11:30am-12:30pm
Chicago Book Expo, Room 256
St. Augustine College, 1345 W. Argyle, Chicago
In lieu of our regular monthly meeting at the library, Chicago Self-Publishing Group members are invited to my Smart Self-Publishing Workshop at the Chicago Book Expo on Nov. 24.
There's no charge to attend, and the workshop is a great opportunity to learn about self-publishing while showing your support for this fantastic free literary/publishing event.
It's been more than a year since I presented to you on the fundamentals of self-publishing, so this workshop will serve as both an introduction to and refresher on the self-publishing process.
Workshop description: Smart authors educate themselves before entering the world of self-publishing. Understanding the many steps of the process will make your self-publishing journey easier and increase your book's chances for success. Learn the issues you'll face, decisions you'll make, and steps you'll take to self-publish, including editing, design, digital vs. print, book marketing, and more.
While you're there, feel free to explore the rest of the Expo. This year's event features six tracks of programming and an exhibit hall with more than 90 of Chicago's best authors and independent publishers, and publishing organizations. There will be author readings and signings, panel discussions, writing workshops, and bilingual programming. Nonprofits and associations serving the writing and publishing communities will also be represented. An afterparty will follow at 5pm at Fat Cat, 4840 N. Broadway.
The event hours are 11a-5pm. There is free parking at St. Augustine College, which is near the Argyle Red Line Station. The event's Facebook page is https://www.facebook.com/chicagobookexpo , the Twitter handle is @ChicagoBookExpo (https://twitter.com/ChicagoBookExpo), and the hashtag is #chibook13.
