It’s always at Cinecenter and the host Katie Crook will always be there an hour beforehand (Thurs) and/or an hour afterwards (Sun) to meet and greet and have a few drinks. Tickets are €10 or you can use Cineville so its a bargain to boot. Tickets can be booked or reserved in advance.
At CineExpat we screen foreign language films with English subtitles. SHADOW is as a reimagining of an epic tale from the Three Kingdoms period in Chinese history, in the third century.
The King of Pei and his people live in exile after being expelled from the city of Jing. The King finds it hard to cope with the loss of the city. Because of this he directs his anger at the most important general. What he does not know is that the general is secretly working on a plan to recapture the city. He does this with the help of a double – a “shadow.” The power struggle continues to rise and ends in a blood-curdling climax.
Zhang Yimou (Hero) brings with his masterpiece Shadow an adaptation of the classical epic about the Three Kingdoms. With its deep black and white tones, the film is inspired by the classical Chinese painting technique with washed ink. It is a new high point from the rich oeuvre of the Chinese grandmaster.
Join the host Katie Crook for network drinks before the film from 20:30.
* Quick note of how the nights work - Please purchase or reserve tickets in advance via the Tickets link above - the nights are very popular and I wouldn't want you to miss out on the film. For screenings around 7PM, we always do the drinks after the film, for films starting around 9PM we hold the drinks before the film*
