BURNING screens with English subtitles and networking drinks
Next up at Cine Expat - Amsterdam, where we screen recent foreign language films with English subs: BURNING, the South Korean mystery drama by Lee Chang-dong. Based on the short story “Barn Burning” by Haruki Murakami. Jongsoo works as a part-time courier in Seoul, but dreams of a career as a writer. One day, he comes across Haemi, a childhood neighbour and classmate whom he does not remember at first. She is about to travel to Africa and asks Jongsoo to watch her cat while she’s away. Jongsoo doubts if the cat is even real, but falls for Haemi and agrees to do it. Disappointment hits when Haemi returns from her trip with the charming and mysterious Ben, whom she met in Kenya. The three get involved in a love triangle, until Haemi suddenly disappears. Katie, the host will be in the bar for drinks from 8PM. Film screens at 9PM. Tickets: https://cinecenter.nl/film/cine-expat-burning/?special=expat Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wi6Kw7V8gXk * Quick Note of how the nights work - Please purchase or reserve tickets in advance - the nights are very popular and I wouldn't want you to miss out on the film. For every screening during the summer time we do the Meetup drinks first from 8PM, then show the film at 9PM.*

What we're about

Two times a month on every second Sunday (7pm) and fourth Thursday (9pm) we screen a recent foreign language classic with English subtitles. It’s always at Cinecenter and the host Katie Crook will always be there an hour beforehand (Thurs) and/or an hour afterwards (Sun) to meet and greet and have a few drinks. Tickets are €10 or you can use Cineville so its a bargain to boot. Tickets can be booked or reserved in advance.
