City Hall Hack Night! - GeoDev Meetup with ESRI

Details
We'll be hosting this meetup jointly with our friends at ESRI! That means you can, like always, hear about ongoing Code for Sac projects, join one of them, or pitch your own. But it also means you can get together with others interested in mapping, geo technology, geo services, web and mobile mapping apps, app design, cloud solutions, map data or anything else related to solving real-world "geo" problems.
Everyone is welcome, from seasoned developers (GIS or not) to new learners to designers to policy wonks to interested citizens.
At this meetup, we'll hear a special presentation from the City of Sacramento, as they tell us about their new ESRI Open Data Portal. From the City: "The new site will host more GIS/location based data and provide more powerful functionality to the public. This is a significant improvement in visualizing spatial data and highlighting spatial patterns and trends, with the ability to generate simple analyses on the fly, to create applications, to share data links, or to embed maps. The city’s public facing web maps will also be cataloged in this new site, making this the data hub for the public. The new site shows the continuing effort the city is putting forward to promote transparency, accountability, and citizen engagement. We welcome you to come see some examples of how you can use this new platform, meet some of the team that run it, and give feedback."
Do you want to share something as well? Great! You can take the opportunity to rapidly inspire a captive audience with a five-minute lightning talk. Contact us if you would be interested in participating; we would love to hear what you've been working on!
Lightning Talks Scheduled:
• Shannon DeArmond, Far Western Anthropological Research Group: "Visualizing the Depopulation of Native American Communities in the San Francisco Bay Area"
• Chuan-Shin Chong: "UAV Photogrammetry And Lidar Mapping"
• Roland Shield: "The Computer Club"
• Kyle Morgan: "Advanced ArcGIS Server GP Publishing and Maintenance"
Afterward, we'll hear what Code for Sac's teams have been working on, let people pitch new Code for Sac projects, socialize, and eat pizza. Sound good? Good! See you there!
PARKING: Street meters downtown are now operational until 10pm, so plan accordingly. The City Hall parking garage at 10th and I has a $5 flat rate after 5 pm, and may be your simplest option.
