Open data are out there, but accessing them may not seem so straightforward, especially in Japan. At the same time, processing and visualization tools are making it faster and easier to gain insights from data. This talk will merge the two, giving an introduction to using Python and D3.js for data preparation and web-native interactive visualization, with examples from Japanese open data sets. This talk is for anyone interested in leveraging open data resources, but also those curious about Japan and the secrets hidden in its data.
SPEAKER:
Ian originally comes from Arizona, and has lived in various places across Japan for 14 years. He became interested in Code Chrysalis in order to pursue his love for coding and the technical skills to complement his 10 years of IT experience. In his spare time he enjoys bowling (his personal best is 275) and Mölkky. He's also biked the 1,400km Ohenro pilgrimage in Shikoku!
