Code Chrysalis CTO and Co-Founder Yan will be giving her interactive workshop. This event is aimed for beginners interested in coding.
At this event, you will learn:
- what a program is and what programming is
- why coding can be so tough
- some of the different kinds of programming languages at a very high level
- some different building blocks of code
- how to read through some code together
- how to be a code detective
Yan will also be talking about her background and how she got into coding, realizations she's had as a software engineer, and also, introducing JavaScript.
This event is for anyone interested in:
- programming/coding
- software engineering
- JavaScript
No experience required.

- No prior knowledge is needed to join. This is an easy introduction to programming. If you have ever wanted to learn how to code, but have been intimidated or afraid to try it, this is the event for you.
- You will need to join this event via a computer.
- This event will be conducted in English.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Born in China and raised in Seattle, Yan graduated from Dartmouth College with degrees in Economics and Arabic. After graduation, Yan worked at Bunge Global Agribusiness, a commodities trading house. After a career change into tech, Yan worked as a software engineer at Ayasdi, a leading Silicon Valley machine learning startup, and as an instructor for Hack Reactor's prep course.
Code Chrysalis is Yan's second coding bootcamp--she co-founded and served as CTO of a coding school in Jordan helping refugees in 2016.
