Deep Learning and Segmentation: Identifying Patients On Their Treatment Journey

Deep Learning and Segmentation: Identifying Patients On Their Treatment Journey

Details

Join Bill Wyatt, VP of Data Science at Healthgrades (https://www.healthgrades.com/), on Thursday, April 20th as he gives us an overview of deep learning and segmentation models as it pertains to patient identification and patient journey segmentation.

During this discussion we will review Healthgrades methodology for future (potential) hospital patient identification using deep learning strategies. As an advancement of this fairly standard CRM type of process we will discuss advanced segmentation models that identify patients by clinical situation and at various parts of their journey with the goal of optimizing communication to unique clinical segment and journey stage.

About Bill Wyatt

Dr. Wyatt has been working at Healthgrades for nearly 4 years. His current work as VP, Data Science allows him to direct a team of skilled data scientists, analysts, researchers, and database developers toward data driven solutions. With over 1 million visits a day and nearly 100 million medical encounters his team analyzes data from consumer behavior to healthcare utilization and treatment outcomes. Previously Bill served as faculty in the department of statistics at Indiana University Bloomington teaching courses in Multivariate Statistics, General Linear Models, and Exploratory Data Analysis. Prior to that he worked as a statistical consultant and primary statistician for commercial, academic, and government contracts.

Dr. Wyatt’s background comes out of Kinesiology and human learning. In that work he utilized functional analysis, time series models, and rigorous experimental approaches to map the process by which people learning, generalize, and transfer motor skills. Early in his career he realized that the question, while important was not nearly as interesting as the methodological approach to answering it with data.
