2.2 - it's coming right for you

Magento will soon be releasing it's latest dot release, 2.2. What's going to be in the new code? What features are being added? What's being improved?

In this month's Magento Meetup we will be looking at all changes happening. Magento considers each of it's dot release fair game for breaking changes to the code base. Whole section of the code where rewritten from 2.0 to 2.1, causing havoc to any developer not up to date on what is changing in the core. These changes give Magento inc the chance to fix issues of 'dubious development' in the past and (hopeful) provide us with a better platform to work with. So lets get ahead of the curve and be ready when the final release comes our way.

We will focus on the new features, breaking changes, updated concepts (for deploy and development) and the general health of the platform.

From Magento, we have a docs resource page (http://devdocs.magento.com/guides/v2.2/release-notes/release-notes-2-2-prerelease1-CE.html) (which is still being updated) and the release webinar (https://magento.com/resources/magento-22-webinar-developers) from a few weeks back that i will be going over. We will talk about how the community is responding the new changes. And I'll also be doing some code diffs to hunt down any sneaky little changes.

Fluid Coffee Bar has a meeting room in the back that we will be taking over. It's located on the corner of 19th and Pennsylvania, right outside of Downtown Denver. There is access into the space in the back of the shop, but it's you are coming late, there are doors on the outside of the space for direct access to the meeting room, you don't have to go through the coffee shop. Parking is all street parking, and in this area is a roll of the dice, but I have always been able to find plenty of spots. Take note of the street signs, almost all parking has a 2 hours limit, but the ends at 6pm. After that parking is unlimited all night long.
