Colorado Magento Meetup - APIs...what are they good for?

...absolutely something, say it again. The word API floats around in the world of web development like a totemic Dragon that seems to grant magical powers but does it with secrete powers that are just out the of reach of us mortals. While almost everyone knows the term, the practical application and use of APIs in Magento (or any system for that matter) has poor documentation for those new to the concept. For those that have worked with APIs, Magento has set itself apart by developing an amazing system. This system does grant magical powers but for those new to APIs or Magento's API system how do you get access to this system?

For this meet up we are going focus on two talks. First will be a non-technical tour of what APIs are, what they are doing in Magento and why they matter (and why everyone is talking so much about them). Second we will focus in on the Magento API and how to use it in straight forward examples using platform agnostic tools and Swagger (http://devdocs.magento.com/swagger/) the best API documentation we have ever come across. If you have ever wanted to get your head around APIs, this is the talk for you. And while we will be focusing on Magento, the information we are going to focus on will apply to all systems that use APIs. Gain valuable knowledge and bore people at your next dinner party with Magento APIs.

--Venue Info--

Fluid Coffee Bar has a meeting room in the back that we will be taking over. It's located on the corner of 19th and Pennsylvania, right outside of Downtown Denver. There is access into the space in the back of the shop, but it's you are coming late, there are doors on the outside of the space for direct access to the meeting room, you don't have to go through the coffee shop. Parking is all street parking, and in this area is a roll of the dice, but I have always been able to find plenty of spots. Take note of the street signs, almost all parking has a 2 hours limit, but the ends at 6pm. After that parking is unlimited all night long.
