May CoPVA Meeting

  • May 24, 2010 · 6:00 PM

Sound design and engineering is more than 50% of what we do as videographers. We are going to be visited by one of the states top audio sweetening and production companies. Don't miss this opportunity to learn from some of the best. Professional Bio Justin Davis - Audio Engineer and Studio Systems Support As an Audio Engineer at Rocky Mountain Recorders in Denver, CO, Justin has a full time responsibility keeping a large format recording studio at the forefront of technology and the ever changing music, film, video, and multimedia industries. In the nearly 10 of years working for Rocky Mountain Recorders he has worked with Snoop Dogg, John Fogarty, Sony Pictures, Warner Brothers Studios, and many of the top advertising and production companies in Denver. Priot to this, Justin worked for Salt Productions and Davis Audio-Visual and graduated from the University of Colorado Denver with a Bachelor of the Arts in Music Recording. In his free time, Justin works as an adjunct faculty member at the Colorado Film School where he teaches production audio skills in his Sound for Film and Video classes, and post production audio skills in his Audio “Sweetening” classes. In addition we would like to thank our "Mystery Skype Handle", Christine Moore, for visiting us last month. Her comments on ways that the Dallas Fort Worth PVA got us thinking here. We will be discussing opportunities to shoot together on projects at the next meeting. Maybe the months "Mystery Skype Handle" will have more great pointers to make our Association grow and develop. Please bring any videos you would like to show in our Video Brown Bag. Time permitting we always like to show off some of our most recent work and have others give us constructive feedback when asked. Look forward to seeing you there. CoPVA Board of Directors

    A great talk.

So often when we have "experts" they give an explanation of a single tool and how that tool can be used. This talk was about issues and solutions rather than how to use a software tool.

This talk was very insightful and clearly peaked the interest of lots of the members.

The Speaker was very good. I don’t know much about sound, but he made things very clear and easy to understand. He had a lot of knowledge about his subject. Learned a lot from him.
