Hello!

Don’t let this one slip by! Details for this Friday’s Oscar Watch showing of the “beautiful and moving” BROOKLYN can be found below! Here’s the plan:

BROOKLYN this Friday, December 4th at the Drexel Theatre!

  • This week we’ll take in a film Peter Travers of Rolling Stone calls “easily the year's best and most beguiling love story,” BROOKLYN!
  • PLAN: Purchase your ticket for the 7:30pm showing and meet inside the theater lobby between 7:00 and 7:15pm! Drexel discounts for CMG Members and their guests include $7 admission, $2.50 popcorn and $2.50 sodas! Afterwards, join us at the Rusty Bucket, located just down the block, for some Friday Night food and drinks!
  • DESCRIPTION: Brooklyn tells the story of a young Irish immigrant navigating her way through 1950’s Brooklyn. The initial homesickness diminishes as a fresh romance sweeps over her. But when her new vivacity is disrupted by her past, she must choose between two countries and the lives that exist within. Based on the best-selling novel by Colm Toibin, Brooklyn stars Domhnall Gleeson, Emory Cohen, Jim Broadbent and Saoirse Ronan in what many reviewers are calling an awards-caliber breakout performance!
  • BUZZ: Brooklyn comes in with an astounding 99% positive RT rating an armful of early festival awards, including the People’s Choice Award from the Denver, Virginia, Mill Valley and Vancouver International Film Festivals! The film is nominated for 5 British Independent Spirit Awards with certainly more to come! Rodrigo Perez of The Playlist says this film “about choices, country, commitments, sacrifice, and love…is a superb, luminous, and bittersweet portrayal of who we are, where we’ve come from, where we’re going, and the places we call home.”
  • TRAILER: A beautiful little trailer to get you ready for the show: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4IM1XhTxPAE

Lots of other good stuff on the calendar in the coming weeks! Next week we’ll check out another Oscar Watch film and the winner of the Toronto Film Festival, ROOM at AMC Lennox on Tuesday, December 8th! This film features powerhouse female lead performance by Brie Larson, who will likely be Saoirse Ronan’s biggest competition for Best Actress.

If you’re in the mood for something Christmasy and Creepy, join Derek for our CMG Horror/Thriller Series event to see the horror/dark comedy KRAMPUS on Wed, Dec 9 at AMC Easton!

And on Mon, 12/14, don’t miss our just announced event to see the exceptionally well-reviewed CREED! This spin-off/sequel starring Michael B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone is proving to be a crowd-pleaser that critics and audiences can’t get enough of!

Dan
