Islam And The West. Presented By Nicol Ghazi, CAIR Columbus Chapter

Details

We have a special presenter, Nicol Ghazi, who is an active member of the Central Ohio Muslim community, and whose contributions to Central Ohio has earned her a seat on the Columbus Women's Commission. Ms. Ghazi is the Administrator of Muslim Family Services of Ohio and has been a long term volunteer and supporter of the programs that advocate for social and economic justice, interfaith understanding and youth development.

While not limited to these questions, Ms. Ghazi will be building her presentation to the following questions:

The separation of Church and State. Is there any room for it given the Koran, Sharia, and the Hadiths?

Religious tolerance and diversity.

The use of clerical panels that review and approve legislation proposed by parliaments.

Laws that punish homosexuality, atheism, blasphemy, and apostasy that occurs in Muslim majority countries.

The seeming lesser status of women in many Muslim majority nations.

Is Sharia considered the primary source of law in all Muslim majority nations and do most Muslims believe the law comes from God?

Are Muslims of the West actively working with Muslim majority nations to encourage greater religious freedom and tolerance? How is this being done? Do most Muslims in the West believe that Muslim majority nations should separate Church and State?

At what point, do you believe, Islam stops being Islam? For example, while they might call themselves Christian, a person who doesn’t believe in the divinity of Jesus or a trinitarian God, would not be considered Christian.

Hope to see you at this special event.
