Unless you've been living under a rock (even though we know that is not practical), you may have noticed the startup scene in Columbus has actually started to BOOM! Columbus is getting nodes from national publications, seeing growth in accelerator programs, a ton of collaboration spaces, a push for makers, and housing one of the biggest exits in Ohio.

With all of the excitement, we’ve heard a lot of Founder Stories ~ You know those stories about scaling, how the idea materialized and how we can be more entrepreneur like. Well, Columbus Web Group is here to highlight some founder stories about the sh*t they don't tell you. Think of this untold story as an episode of "My So-Called Life" without the melodrama and all the inspiration and valuable takeaways: Being your own boss is HARD WORK. You have to sacrifice a lot in order to bring to life a product and idea you believe in. Hear four untold founder stories and join us in a closing panel discussion for our first Columbus Web Group Quarterly.

DOUG JOSEPH
• Founder of Serif Creative

Doug is the Founder of Serif Creative, a content studio focused on helping brands discover their core truths through video, branding, and web.

Raised in his grandmother's biker bar, an international grappling medalist, former boxer and MMA fighter with a winning record, his gritty journey through entrepreneurship has been anything but easy or ordinary.

Today, Serif Creative is a multi-million dollar company serving Fortune 50 companies and local favorites like Wolf's Ridge Brewing. Doug will walk us back in time to the origins of starting the company at his kitchen table in a cramped apartment while working at a factory loading dock.

Death threats, bananas, and a lot of heart are all parts of Doug's past and vision to build Serif Creative into a world-class agency. Though Doug’s goal is to put Serif in a category of its own when it comes to world class creative, at the end of the day he believes that the root of Serif is about building community.
