The Constitution is under attack!! Join us for this ongoing discussion about the Supreme Law of the Land. Learn about your rights and how to exercise them in this politically challenging time.
We will meet on a regular basis to discuss the history and roles of the government and how it pertains to you.
What to Expect:
July 14, 2019 The First Amendment
Let's break it down. What does it say? What does it mean? How does the First Amendment work in our everyday lives??
Join us as we discuss what freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly and the right to petition the government really mean. Each participant will need to preparet a 1st Amendment case to share. For assistance, refer to Oyez.org to find a case.

Just have the basic info. What was the case about? How did the court rule and why? We don't expect you to be a legal scholar. Just a summary of the case as you understand it.
You do not have to have attended prior classes to jump in. However, you may want to review Part 1 and Part 2 of the book on your own to catch up.

As a guide, we will be using The Idiot's Guide to the US Constitution, 2nd edition as the main resource for our discussions. You can purchase a used copy of Ebay or Amazon for under $10.
