This group for anyone with an interest in learning all the different disciplines of photography with the purpose of learning from and sharing with others the skills and experiences we all have. We will seek ideas from the group and hold events based on what members are interested in. The goal is to explore everything from the basics such as exposure and depth of field to advanced lighting and fill flash. We will also explore sports, pet, portraits and still life photography along with anything else members want to suggest. This group is about meeting other people with the same interest in photography, learning and most importantly having fun with the hobby we love. The gear does not matter, shoot with what you have, the best camera is always the one you have and carry with you.
Okay group, during previous meetups and message comments, there seemed to be in interest in having an animal based event so in this meetup we will have the opportunity to get some nice horse portraits and some riding/ action shots. We will talk a little about composition, techniques and camera settings before we set out to shoot any of the 8 (I think) horses my wife has on property. I am not going to set a limit on the number of attendees at this point because there should be enough horses and space to accommodate the group, however, if the response is overwhelming, I may have to change that to a manageable number later and have a second shoot with them. I will charge $10 to cover the cost of having some staff people on site to help with the horses and to cover costs of treats that I will have on hand (needed to keep their attention). All the money collected will go to the horses! This will be a great chance to get up close and personal with a variety of different types of horses. Bring your fastest and/or longest lenses. You can bring a small flash for fill light while shooting still portraits but we don't use flash while the horse is being ridden. I hope everyone finds this as interesting and entertaining as I do. See you there. - Rich
