Low-Tech/No-Tech DIY Mushroom Cultivation
Culture and grow mushrooms you find at your grocery store (or in the wild!)

Bay Area Applied Mycology (BAAM) continues its annual series of mushroom cultivation workshops.

In this workshop, the BAAM Lab Crew will be discussing 'low-tek' or 'no-tek' cultivation strategies. These are accessible, do-it-yourself growing methods that don't require a lab.

In addition to discussion, there will be interactive break-out sessions to get hands-on with the mycelium. Attendees will be led through making basic materials needed to start at-home cultivation.

Get hands on by helping BAAM create cardboard cultures using a technique that is simple to recreate at home.

Create spawn bags using cardboard cultures. We will monitor our creations' progress and use those bags in future labs!

Focus on the most important elements of successful low-tech cultivation and learn how to keep the mycelium running in the lab and at home. Tour our lab space and experience The Omni Commons, Oaklands developing heart of community based organization and action.

Speak your mind and ask your burning questions, we know a lot about mushrooms and some attendees might know even more!

Please meet us at the OmniCommons on Shattuck Avenue in Oakland, CA at 1:45pm. Follow the signs into the CounterCultureLabs area to check-in and get acquainted. The lab begins at 2:00pm and will run for at least 2 hours. Bring your enthusiasm and good energy!
