Below are details for the luminary loppet:
PARKING: Uptown parking is available in:
- Commerical lots, including Calhoun Square parking lot
- Lehman Center (school) lot – behind 1006 W Lake St., 5 blocks east of of Hennepin (3 blocks west of Lyndale), between Colfax and Dupont – enter from Colfax
- Metered and street parking away from Calhoun Square (note road closures)
- Lake Calhoun Executive Center at 3033 Excelsior Blvd. (and nearby streets) – Excelsior at Market Plaza/West Calhoun Blvd (~350 spaces)
o A shuttle bus will run from the Executive Center to Uptown (Lagoon and Hennepin) from 1 p.m. – 9 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
o For those wanting to walk, proceed east along Lake Calhoun to refectory area and then under Lake Street to lagoon between Calhoun and Isles (about ½ mile) - North Lake Calhoun beach lot – Walk east along Lake Calhoun to refectory area and then under Lake Street to lagoon between Calhoun and Isles (about ¼ mile)
(REMINDER: Uptown has recently had car breakins PLEASE do not leave purses backpack, bags in car place in your TRUNKS
MEETING: Meeting at OLD CHICAGO in UPTOWN (Right on Hennepin next to Bus Transit Station & Midtown Greenway). I will be ther from 4:30 pm to 6:15 pm ask hostess for Carl Holmquist OR Minneapolis CC Skiing Meetup.
Old Chicago is having a sphaghetti feed for the event until 5:00 pm so come early for dinner but definitely have a beverage before the event.
TOUR: Starts at 6:30 pm. Cost of tout is $20 and can pay or pickup preregistration at tent across the street from Old Chicago. This is noncompetitive tour with stops along the way for hot chocolate bonfires etc. We are going to try to stay together for the tour. (RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET FROM OLD CHICAGO.)

AFTERWARDS: There will be music and beverages afterwards in the tent until about 10:00 pm. We may go to Old Chicago afterwards or to a friends party in Uptown for CC Skiiers.

This event is designed for anyone who enjoys a spectacle.This non-competitive "Tour of Light" is a popular event for all levels and ages of skiers and snowshoers.
Meet between 5:30 pm & 6:00 pm at Old Chicago Uptown. The Luminary Loppet starts at 6:30 pm.
The event starts and ends in Uptown at the Loppet Finish Area located on the Mall behind the Walker Library (accross the street from Old Chicago). At 6:30pm participants glide down the Mall andonto the canal leading into Lake of the Isles. The lake will be illuminated with 800 candlesplaced in ice luminaries. As you tourthe lake you will see a 9 ft. ice pyramid, be awed by the "Ice-Cropolis "and discover a hidden woodland section. There will be festivities along the way,including bon fires, hot beverages, ski and snowshoe demos, andmore. You can take your time enjoyingthe spectacle and visiting with other skiers as you warm-up by the bon fires. For the hard core skier, this is a great wayto test your wax before the big race on Sunday! Be sure to sign up early. This is one event you won't want to miss.

Make a night of it! First ski the Luminary Loppet, then tell stories and enjoy some live music in the big tent in Uptown. Beer, brats and hot dogs for sale. Hot cocoa for kids.
Free with a Loppet event bib or volunteer hat.
