Friday Bi-weekly Game Night
What better way to relax after the work week than with great games and good friends? This is an open board gaming group for people that love to play. All experience levels welcome and we’re happy to have and teach new players. Bring your favorite game to share or just drop in and play one of the games someone else brings each time. I also have a decent variety of board games spanning various genres and styles. The games we play will vary from week to week and you do not have to bring a game to play. We will have plenty of choices. This group meets at my house. I have comfortable game areas with several large tables that can accommodate a decent number of players plus our own dedicated mini-fridge to keep drinks cold. Everyone is welcome. Directions will be sent to everyone registered so please register so we have an accurate head count. Arrive any time after 6:30pm. We’ll decide what to play and begin around 7pm. I will have some snacks and drinks on hand but feel free to bring some your own so we can all share. BYOB. No hard stop time. We will stop when the games are done or we pass out. Whichever comes first. Registration closes at 4pm day of the event so we can determine number of players to pick the board game(s).

What we're about

Calling all Investigators!

The Denver Lovecraftian Gaming Society is a meetup group for people who appreciate Lovecraftian and mythos inspired style horror and mystery that also like to play tabletop roleplaying games and/or play board games, and get to know fellow gamers over coffee, drinks, food, movies, etc.

Whether you’re a seasoned roleplaying gamer or only enjoy the occasional board game, or want to get into RPG's or board games for the first time, this community can be for you.

There are a number of great games based in the Cthulhu Mythos: The Call of Cthulhu RPG by Chaosium; Trail of Cthulhu RPG by Pelgrane Press; Achtung Cthulhu! RPG from Modiphius; Arkham Horror and Mansions of Madness board games, etc.

As a long time RPG'er who has not played as often as I would like since moving to Colorado and just recently assuming Organizer duties of this group (Sept 2016), my goal is to build a community of gamers that not only want to meet and play RPG's and board games, but also want to get to know fellow gamers. I would venture a guess, that many gamers are a bit on the introverted side and some may have difficulty just posting a game, a call for players, or looking for a gaming group with a bunch of strangers. So we will also include several casual meet and greets where members can gather to see new faces, see longtime members, or just want a fun meetup in a non-gaming environment over drinks, coffee, or whatever.

While everyone here is a fan, to some degree, of Mythos and Lovecraftian related games and fiction, this group does not just have to be about those particular games. If you want to post a gaming event, feel free to post whatever RPG or board game you like. We all have a passion or appreciation for the Mythos but there is no need to limit ourselves to just those Cthulhu/Mythos specific RPG's and board games.

When I gamed frequently back in the 1990's I used to blend some mythos/cosmic horror and mystery inspired themes and plotlines into my RPG campaigns from other game systems like D&D and White Wolf's World of Darkness series. So if you are running a game or campaign that may be D&D, Pathfinder, WoD game series, Cyberpunk, Warhammer, Ars Magica, or a gaslight, steampunk, pulp, or dieselpunk themed game or whatever - feel free to post it.

Posting events is open to all members, so we are looking for people interested in hosting - whether that is a casual meetup in a non-gaming environment over coffee or drinks or if you have a game or campaign to run. Posting events is open to all members without Organizer approval. If you plan to host several events, I can make you an Event Organizer so that you have the site permissions for controlling the details of your events.

FYI - I am sure many of you use the Meetup app, but keep in mind the app does not have access to other pages in this group like pics, polls, and discussions. To access those interesting parts of the group you will have to log on via internet browser.

And one more thing... if you RSVP to an event and cannot make it, that is no problem, but please cancel your RSVP or send a message to the event host. We all understand that life happens and other things can get in the way. But, not showing up to an event without any notice is not respectful to the people that have put in their time and effort to host the events. If you sign up for an event put it on your calendar with a reminder, and if something comes up that keeps you from attending, no one is going to be offended if you have to cancel.

Thank you,

Craig - Group Organizer
