Details
This ride is scheduled for April 25, 26, 27 and 28. I have 7 signed up which is my maximum so the trip is full at this time.
COSTS
Total rooms and SAG is $350. Breakfast included in days 2 & 3. SAG includes rescue, snacks, water, and a ride home.
UPDATE ITINERARY/LOGISTICS
Day one -- We will depart about 9:00 am from Emil’s Barbecue in Livermore. I routed the trip to Oakdale to avoid the truck route and so it is about 63 miles with about 1,490 ft. climbing. Lodging at the Holiday Inn Express in Oakdale.
Day two – Oakdale to Groveland is about 67 miles with 5,529 ft. climbing. The last 1/3 of this day will be the most difficult section of the trip with consistent 6% grade and occasional short double digit sections. Lodging at The Cub Inn in Groveland.
Day three -- Oakdale to Yosemite is 51 miles with 6,202 ft. of climbing. The good thing is the climbing consistent but at manageable grade. Think of riding Mines Road. Lodging at the Yosemite Lodge by the falls.
Needless to say while you need not be a super conditioned rider to participate, the second and third day can be difficult for persons who ride less than 30 miles per week. However, if you participate in all the cycling4Fun training events up to the ride you will likely be in condition to complete this ride.
We will be sharing SAG driving with each rider taking a turn each day. If you feel you cannot ride a certain section of the route for some reason you can catch the SAG.
The van will be returning Day 4 early afternoon to either Emil’s or my house. If you want to stay over then you will need to make travel arrangements. If needed, you can catch the van at my house in Hayward and leave your car there also.

WEATHER/REFUNDS
So, we have attempted this ride twice in the same time period. The first time we did not finish the last day having to turn back due to rain and snow. The second time (2 yrs ago) we made it but it just started to rain as the last person ended. So weather is chancy, esp on the third day, but there ARE NO REFUNDS since the hotels do not refund close to the use date and the SAG expenses remain regardless of riders.
NOTE
This group is a touring, no drop group. Our pace is casual (10-12 mph) but usually we have a faster group also (15-20mph). The group is mixed in age and gender and beginners are welcome. Helmets required.
