You are welcome to join us if you are an Intermediate+ golfer. Here are some expectations:

- Familiarity with basic rules of golf and golf etiquette, particularly the practice of honoring a good pace of play;

- Respect for the game and our members;

- Adherence to our policies, including showing up for events on time or earlier if requested.

Whether you participate in our golf outings or our non-golf social events, you are responsible for any damages or injuries you cause to property or other persons. You are participating at NCGC events at your own risk, and neither the Organizer nor the Event Organizers will be liable for damages or injuries caused by any of our members during our meetups or travel to and from our meetups. NCGC is also not liable for any injuries inflicted upon it members or damages done to members' properties or loss of properties (including golf equipment, transportation, etc.) during events and travel to and from our meetups.

Also, unless you are already a member of our Beginners group, you must use your real name or initials and a recent photo of yourself when signing up. If you are not comfortable with this policy or any of our other policies, this is not the group for you.

OUR GOALS AND ACTIVITIES

Let’s play our part in promoting and practicing the industry’s goal of finishing a round in about 4.5 hours.

For over two years, we have been providing exceptional golf experience to players of all ages, and our group keeps getting better and better. We will continue to play 18-hole courses all over the Bay Area and sometimes beyond.

We oftentimes hang out after the round for a meal or a drink. This is optional, so don't feel obligated to stick around if your plans do not permit it.

We are also open to suggestions for playing various courses in the Bay Area. If there is a course you would like to play, let one of the Event Organizers know and we will look to getting it on the calendar.

FEES

Annual NON-REFUNDABLE fee: $11.36

If a member is removed from our group, this fee will not be refunded.

ATTENDANCE and RSVPs

Our attendance policy is strict. This is a requirement as we reserve tee times up to two weeks in advance, and we are required to fill those tee times. Golf courses do not like last minute cancellations as they make their money by having full foursomes.

When you receive notifications of scheduled meetups, it is not necessary to reply "No" if you are not attending an event. You have the option to click on "Yes" or "No," but you don't have to; you can simply delete the email without replying. Of course, if you RSVP "Yes" then your plans change, you must update your RSVP to "No."

Do not sign up for a meetup if there's a chance that you might have to cancel at the last minute. It's better for you to sign up at the last minute than to cancel at the last minute.

* Although one no-show may result in the removal from our group, the first no-show may only be given a warning, depending on the circumstances. 

 * Last-minute cancellations are frowned upon. A last-minute cancel is if you cancel your RSVP after the RSVP deadline or after an Event Organizer has posted the group assignments, which might be a day or two before the RSVP deadline.

* A combination of a no-show and last-minute cancellation will also result in the removal from our group.

* Last-minute cancellations will be accepted from our "regular" members who have a good attendance record—until it starts to become a habit.

Alate Meaning: Winged Like, the word is comprised of the Latin roots āla meaning "wing" and the suffix -ate which was used in Latin to make a word an adjective. "You were born with wings, why prefer to crawl through life?"

Joining Alate Events & Adventures will allow you to Spread your Wings and try activities you have always wanted to, but maybe just did not have anyone to do them with or you did not know how to plan it out and make it happen. This group is made up mostly of members in their mid to late 50's and 60's. 

The planning will be done for you! So come out of your shell, come out of yourself, Spread Your Wings and Grow. Come and share in the fun of various events & adventures such as theme parties, dancing, concerts, dining, rafting, bowling, kayaking, motorcycle riding, hiking, cruising, overnight trips, day trips, wine tasting, the options are endless. Each event will post the descriptions and details for you to determine if it's a good fit for you. For example if a motorcycle ride is posted and you do not own a bike, ride a bike or want to be a passenger then this would not be the event for you to sign up for. But if you like to ride bicycles and a bike riding event is posted then this would be right up your alley.

And just think, you don’t have to go it alone, you will always have a group to share the experiences with.

Join the group if you are in the age range of 55+

Activities could be small intimate affairs to large group events. Events will be held in various locations from the East Bay, South Bay, Tri -Valley and more.

There may be times when events are posted as an FYI Un-hosted only to share the information with the members. I might not be attending to host them. In these cases I will ask the members if there is someone who would like to step in as the Event Host and if no volunteers then it will be marked as Un-hosted Event. So still do RSVP so that other members know who will be going and then you can make arrangements for carpooling, meeting up etc.

Some activities may have a charge involved and PayPal will be used when required for payments to be remitted.

If you like variety and you like to stay active then join us and get ready to Spread Your Wings!

I ask for a minimal annual dues of $10 to assist in paying the meetup dues of $200 per year. You can pay it via Zelle, PayPal or Cash. Message me to arrange payment. If you want to attend an event or two first then after two then they should be paid.

No Show Policy, The goal is to provide everyone with a wonderful experience. When someone is a “no-show” it can keep the group waiting, leaves spots empty and it’s not fair to our events host at reserved seating events and it's certainly not fair to members on the wait list who might have been able to attend. The spirit of this rule is to encourage attendance so that all our members can look forward to a good turnout at our events. A "no show' can be immediate grounds for group removal. 

A “no-show” is someone who signs up for an event and does not attend the event. If a member fails to attend one event during the calendar year in which they RSVP’d “yes” to, that member may be removed from the Meetup group. We understand that last minute things happen, but failing to let us know beforehand or making a habit of not showing up will result in being removed.

Late Cancel: Canceling an event one to two days prior is considered late, and also grounds for removal if this becomes consistent.

Upon attending said events you are accepting all liability for your actions and decisions. There is nothing better than people coming together for the sheer joy of...well, having fun! Fun is what futbol is all about. Yes, it's competitive and it's engaging! But, above all, its simply fun! That is why I would like to invite people like you, who share my love of the game, to come join us. Our games are usually held on weekdays and weekends. Keep an eye on the meetup site for details.

The group is entirely co-ed and all skill levels are invited. We do have a few basic ground rules that help to keep our games fun and safe. They're listed below. You'll need to read them and agree to follow them at all times in order to join our. I invite you to come join us.

We only ask for a small $10 per year contribution to help cover the cost of goals & other equipment.

Each player, whether brand new or fairly seasoned, should know what to expect when he/she comes to our games. For that to happen, each player has to know the group rules. So, take a minute to read through the rules below.

RSVP ASAP

It’s a must to play. Your RSVP reserves your spot on the field for you and your guest(s), but only if you arrive on time. Spots are often limited by a healthy turnout for each game. So, if you can’t make it, be sure to change your RSVP ASAP so that a player waiting for an open spot gets a chance to play. If you RSVP, but show up more than 20 minutes after the posted game time, you may not be able to play (see below).

Guests

You can bring up to 2 guests to a game (Except some weekday games, which are in high demand). A guest can try out our group & see if they like us. If the guest wants to come to game 2+, he/she probably likes us. He/she will need to sign up for our group & RSVP to come to game 2+.

RSVP Cap

This is the maximum number of players allowed to RSVP to a game. The cap is set to keep the games fun for everyone by avoiding over-crowded fields.

Waiting List

Players trying to RSVP for a game that is already full will enter a waiting list. When a spot opens up, you will be automatically RSVP’d to the game. However, if you’d like to bring a guest, you will be automatically RSVP’d only when enough spots open up for you and your guest(s).

Wait-listed players and others who did not RSVP may also join our games IF players who did RSVP do not show up within 20 minutes of the posted game time.

Game Start Time

The posted game time is the intended arrival time, not the game-start time. We allow 15-20 minutes for people to arrive, stretch, lace up, and get ready to play. Sometimes, it takes a little longer. But, we try to get started as early as possible. If the game is scheduled for 8:00pm, you should aim to be on the field and ready to play by 8:15pm. We pick teams 20 minutes after the posted game time.

When is a player considered to be late?

If you are not on the field and ready to play (not getting ready to play) within 20 minutes of the posted game time, you are late.

Late-Arrival Policy

If you are late, you are not guaranteed to be able to play, regardless of whether or not you RSVP'd. When we start picking teams, we will choose from the players who are on the field and ready to play.

If you show up 20+ minutes after the posted start time, YOU CAN ONLY PLAY in the 2nd half of the game IF: (1) you do 30 pushups AND 30 squats upon arrival WHILE counting off out loud for everyone to hear; (2) you're willing to wait until half time to jump in; (3) the game has not reached the maximum players permitted. If you half-ass the pushups/squats (i.e. do less than 30 each or do not do complete ones), the group assistant organizers and I will interpret that to be disrespectful of the group rules and fellow players, which will be grounds for removal from the group, permanently.

No Shows

If you RSVP to a game but don’t show up, someone on the waitlist that wanted to play may not be able to because you did not hand over your spot. If you RSVP but later find out that you’re not able to come, please change your RSVP so that someone else gets a chance to play.

Players that do not show to a game after RSVPing will be warned on the first incident. But, we will remove players who repeatedly no-show. It's up to the Organizer's discretion to determine what constitutes as "repeated."

Attire & Equipment

All players are required to wear appropriate footwear and clothing for field sports. Each player should bring a light and dark shirt to every game (so we can easily break up into teams). Soccer cleats & shin guards are strongly recommended because they help to prevent injury. But, they are not required.

Good Sportsmanship

This group was formed for four main reasons:

To unite people in the enjoyment of the beautiful game of soccer, or fútbol, as you like;

To socialize, make new friends, and enjoy each other's company;

To get some exercise while having fun at the same time; &

To give players of all skill levels a safe and friendly environment to play in.

We can only accomplish our group purpose if everyone practices good sportsmanship at all times during our games. It’s a must. That means:

Welcoming and getting to know other players;

Helping with field setup and breakdown;

Passing the ball often (& not just to friends or people you’ve played with before);

Volunteering to play goal-keeper rather than waiting for someone to ask;

No aggressive behavior, negative comments about other players, whining, or excessive arguing over past plays; &

No dangerous plays, such as slide tackles, body checks, high kicks, & flying kicks or headers. No play, no matter how great, is worth the risk of hurting someone.

Our group is not about competitive league play. It’s about meeting new people, making new friends, enjoying a great game, and above all, having fun!

If you feel someone is treating you poorly or making you feel unwelcome on the field, please speak with an organizer, and we'll get it sorted out. We want all players to feel welcome and safe in our group.

Communication

E-mail is the primary way that we communicate with the group. So, all members must register a valid e-mail with Meetup.com. Players cannot effectively participate in the group, and they will be removed.

When discussing specific games, we often communicate through Meetup comments. So, be sure to check those out as well. For those of you with a smartphone, we recommend that you download the Meetup app. It’s free, and it will notify you when new comments and game changes are posted.

Inactivity

Inactive players are periodically removed from our roster. Any player who does not attend at least 1 game within 3 months is considered inactive. If you are removed due to inactivity, you can always re-apply to the group when you plan to become active again.

Removal Policy

If you get removed from the group for any reason, you may apply to re-join, but approval is not guaranteed. A second removal is likely to be permanent. If you are banned, you will not be allowed to re-join the group under any circumstances.

Enforcement Of Rules

The group organizers reserve the right to take any and all reasonable steps necessary to ensure that the above rules are respected by all group members in their broadest sense. All members are required to agree to the rules upon registration, and any member who fails to follow them may be removed from the group. Honestly, most of this stuff is common sense. We're not out to give anybody a hard time. We just want to make the group as enjoyable as possible for everyone. The rules help us do that, so please respect them.

Risk of Injury

Like most sports, playing futbol/soccer comes with the risk of serious injury. We are a group of casual and social recreational hikers that meet for weekend half day hikes (and a few mid-week hikes) where we live, work and play, in the beautiful hills of the San Francisco Bay Area!  Special urban hikes in San Francisco are also be featured.  Come and enjoy some fun hikes with us and meet other active people with many common interests.  Friendly dogs are welcome to join us for on many of our hikes. 

All liability questions must be answered with, "Yes." for your acceptance into the group. 

HIKERS PLEASE NOTE  :

The majority of the hikes that are currently posted are rated MODERATE DIFFICULTY - occasionally we will post some easier and sometimes if the group requests , some a little harder , maybe longer . By signing up to hike / attend our weekly hiking events you should have some Hiking experience with being able to keep up with the group (22-25 min per mile) . In order to finish the hike in the described time allotted , Please Note  :  It is not our intention to hike the pace of the slowest hiker . Out of respect for other hikers and their experience, please understand your own physical ability and select hikes that are within your comfort range !  The Organizers wish to remind all members of this group that we are merely hike planners and have discovered some interesting trails in the East Bay Hills to share with other like minded outdoor enthusiasts.

5-7 mile day hikes each weekend; an occasional longer one for the challenge. Hikers with a spirit for outdoor adventure and those seeking a weekend workout are encouraged to stop by and check us out !

This group is for anyone who is interested in creating and sharing art. All mediums such as charcoal, water color, oil paint, etc. are welcome. All skill levels are welcome as well. 

For our group's events, you'll find a mix of outdoor painting and indoor sketching and the locations vary from as far North as San Francisco to as far South as Monterey.  

Recently we've been posting and guest posting more indoor meetups as a result of the popularity of the portrait parties and sketching, but you'll still find a couple outdoor painting events a month as well.

I should say that the events aren't classes or workshops in that I consider the group more of a social group who's members enjoy creating and sharing art with other artists.  If you've got questions, are looking for a critique, or are stuck on something feel free to ask for help though. We really do have a nice mix of experienced artists.

Also, there are no fees for the group or events but sometimes there is a cost for things like parking or if we have events in coffee shops or restaurants we're usually expected to purchase something. I'll do my best to call out any fees in the event description as they come up.

Game is recommended for intermediate to advanced skill players.

The cost will be $10-12 a game, depending on the number of players. The fee is used to pay for the facility rental ($150 per hour) and any remaining funds go toward Meetup fees and equipment (balls, pinnies, etc.) Everyone will be provided a freshly washed pinny before each game.

Please Venmo @JamesJones two nights before the game. Those who pay sooner than later, including those on the waitlist, will be moved onto the roster, potentially knocking people off the “going” list if you haven’t paid yet.

Players are expected to be ready on the field immediately at the start of the game. We have the field for 20 minutes before the game for time to warm up.

No-shows will be removed from the group with no refund. No shin guards are required. Turf shoes (with the small rubber nubs) or indoor flats are acceptable.

**No sliding whatsoever and no FG cleats are allowed on the indoor turf**

There is no formal halftime or water break. If you would like a quick break, you may take your own. Goal keepers will rotate every 7-8 minutes so that everyone plays at some point.

A waiver will be required for the facility, which I will send you a link for upon signing up for a game.

By joining and being a member of this group you acknowledge that your participation in any event is voluntary. You agree to assume all the risks and responsibilities surrounding such participation and do hereby fully and forever waive, release and discharge the organizer and their respective organizers (collectively, the “Releasees”) from any and all liabilities, demands, claims, damages, losses, costs (including attorneys’ fees), actions and causes of action (known or unknown) arising out of or related in any way with the undersigned’s participation in indoor or outdoor soccer events or presence at any events at any time, including, but not limited to, any claim whatsoever on account of first aid or service rendered to the undersigned during events.
